Best Short Shifter for '97 Civic?
Hey guys,
I have a '97 Civic Lx and I recently did a tranny swap. I don't like the feel of the stock shifter, so I want to get a short shift kit. What company makes a good quality shifter that is durable and reasonably priced? Thanks guys.

Someone tell me why B&M is no good? Its only $40. Is skunk2 better than B&M? Whats the difference between dual ebnd and single bend? And where can I find the skunk2 ssk for a good price? Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help.

How hard do you shift? $10 for a year is a good deal I'd say. I mean lets say you drive everyday and shift 50 times per day. 365x50 = 18,520 shifts per year
$10/18,520 = 0.0005
$0.0005 per shift. Not bad.

...theres nothing wrong with the ebay shifters. if your not one of those kids who scream rawr vtaaaak & grind your tranny & shift like theres no tommorow you won't have a problem with it breaking.

the shifter doesnt decide how fast you can shift, your transmission does, and by changing to a short sifter you potentially can cause unnessary wear to the tranny by trying to force it to shift faster than it can.
Ebay shifter are made from aluminum which thoughts the shifting balance off, and transfers all the vibration of the engine to the shifter. Also the Aluminum threads cannot hold up to shifting hard and as a result you may shear the end and pull off your shift ****.
Higher up short shifters are made from steel and a heaver which better balances you shift linkage and also absorb some of the vibration and keep from shearing, but you still will run into the problem of trying to shift faster that the transmission was built for.
If you see many professional racers will have LONGER shifters, but have an sbend so they can keep the same throw as stock, and its closer to the steering wheel.

tell me why the hell you want a piece of shinny metal thats threaded on one end and has a hole in the other to have a warranty? **** man get insurance on it if its that big a deal. Ive had mine 3 years now, never givn me trouble. with the price increase on the skunk 2 you could buy like 6 short shifters.
i know you said you're opposed to getting an ebay shifter, but i got one for under 20 and its a great shifter.... and i didn't feel bad about cutting it down for an even shorter throw.
otherwise id get a b&m, they're relatively cheap and a high quality product.
