LONG STORY, BUT IF YOU ARE BORED, PLEASE READ IT AND LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINION. I AM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GO HOME THIS WEEKEND WITH MY BIKE AND BRING THE CAR UP, OR IF I CAN KEEP THE BIKE AT SCHOOL.
so i was in the library on campus today and was studying on the 5th floor. i sat by a window that let me have a clear view of my bike, since it was parallel parked on the road.
i heard another motorcycle coming downthe road, so i peeked out the window to see what it was, as i tend to do anytime i hear a bike. i'm really not sure what it was, but it was OLDSCHOOL, and primer black, no front fairing, and dual circular headlights.
he rode down the road and once he saw my bike (2000 929rr), he slowed down, turned around and stopped in front of mine. i was watching him the whole time as he inspected my bike for about a minute-minute and a half, then got off his bike and walked around to the back of mine and looked at my plate.
after that, i immediately RAN out of the library, leaving my laptop, helmet and everything just sitting there. i came out and stood by the bus stop among several other kids so i inconspicuous... and i watched him get off his bike, walk back up to my bike and stop some lady on the sidewalk and i heard him ask her what the legal parking hours were for the street that goes through campus, even tho they are clearly printed on 3 signs on the road. i was going to confront him and ask what he was doing, but he did a good job disguising it by talking to the lady
after he talked to her, he walked back and put something in his bike, then walked into the library, where i followed him back in. he saw me looking at him but probably didn't think anything of it.
:INTERMISSION:
when i was done studying i was walking out of the library, adn when i got to the main floor, i saw him sitting by the window where he could see my bike. as i walked by with my helmet in hand, i saw out of the corner of my eye him looking up at me. i walked and glanced at him quckly and gave him kinda a smirk as if to let him know that i saw him and he knows i'm the same guy that was watching him outside. he then continued to watch me until i was completely past him.
when i went outside, i walked in the opposite direction of my bike and got his plate number just in case. then as i was walking towards my bike, i noticed he was getting up to leave, so i sat on a bench out of his site. there was a crosswalk about dead even between where my bike was parked and where his was, as he walked out, i watched him take a left towards my bike after crossing, instead of a right towards his.
after i saw him do this, i immediately stood up and started walking toward my bike, he was looking around everywhere and saw me walking in his direction so he stopped quickly and walked back toward his bike and left.
also: during the time i spent still upstairs in the library studying, i watched an oldschool accord with terrible exhaust drive by and stop by my car twice (about 25 minutes apart), as if they were going to parallel park behind it, but they just stopped by my bike for about 30 seconds and drove off.
for all of u who actually read this long *** story, thanks for makin it through haha and please let me kno if u think i should be worried about my baby or not
lol
spark notes: guy on crap bike scoped out my bike, got my plate number, took off when he saw me coming. is my bike going to get stolen?
i'll try to get a picture up of the location with some arrows and all that good stuff to make it a little more clear

Did he look at your plate or write it down?
I wouldn't be too worried if he saw you smirk at him and check out his bike.
Sounds like someone likes your bike.

Sounds way sketch but I don't know what to do. If I were you, I'd keep my car/bike in a well lit area or by a window so you or someone else can hear it. Also, I'd bring my bike inside my house or garage, but thats just me. Good luck, theives suck, if you catch him, do him Arabian style and cut his hands off.
edit: Don't literally DO him. Just.........you get the point.

not positive... i was in the process of hauling *** down 5 flights of stairs for part of it lol but the fact that he knows i was watching him is the only thing that has me a little calmed down.
luckily, we moved into the only apartments around here with garages, so luckily there are other college kids my age with nice cars in here that will probably keep an eye on my garage for me. buti'm just a little scared to ride it to class now because the motorcycle parking is behind some of the buildings where people aren't always at.
and i'm down to go arabian style on him if my bike disappears and i find him hahaha
BTW... thanks for actually reading my novel of a post and reasponding

i'd just do that then. considering your school is not super far away. with winter approaching, the decision to park my bike away for longer periods of time doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

that's wut it sounds like to me too... i have been thinkin about it all night and i think i'm just gonna leave it in the garage and try to bring it home this weekend.
since i have the plate number from the guy, and told a couple people about it immediately after it happening, and even put it on here... do you guys think if somehow it DID manage to get stolen, that i could use any of that for evidence? lol my broke college-kid *** doesn't have enough money to have a $5-6000 bike get stolen from me

I agree. I would park that thing in the garage for awhile and ride the pedal powered beast to school.

im no lawyer, but its worth a shot.
on the other hand, i would be pissed if the cops came questioning me just because i wanted to take a closer look at someones fender eliminator.

lol i'm not saying like running to the cops right now, i'm just saying if it oh so "coincidentally" turns up missing in the next few days.
besides, he looked a lil too sneaky and cautious to be only checking out the eliminator
i'm pretty sure he understood 100% what the parking rules are on that street since he goes by the signs probably every day
hmmm... its closing in on class time, here i go walking my lazy self to class

here at the University of Florida we have our own campus police department... if it was me i would go by their station and mention it to them, see what they say. After all, preventing theft is part of their job. even though they cant do anything to him, they can give you advice, and if anything does happen, if you told them ahead of time you are more credible (your right they cant arrest him for looking at your bike, but its a lead, and alot of the time thats all it takes)

A few things to determine if you have stimuli or reasonable suspicion...
1 What did this gentleman look like?
2 What you would you consider someone that would commit theft of a motor vehicle
to look like given your area of residence?
3 Did this gentleman fit the description of question number 2?
Did this gentleman rouse your
stimuli
1 Something causing or regarded as causing a response.
2 An agent, action, or condition that elicits or accelerates a physiological or
psychological activity or response.
3 Something that incites or rouses to action; an incentive
OR give you
Reasonable suspision
Function: noun
: an objectively justifiable suspicion that is based on specific facts or
circumstances and that justifies stopping and sometimes searching (as by
frisking) a person thought to be involved in criminal activity at the time
This is a judgement call on your part because I honestly can not tell since i am un aware with your area and the way people are there. Depending on how you feel call your local department and tell them that you wish to report SUSPISIOUS ACTIVITY that you feel could be related to MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT.
Your PD, IF(and i use if strongly) they do their job they will take a note of this and should an incident arise that could be reported as an attempt or something does dissappear they will have a primary suspect.
Goodluck and watch your *** and I hope you have theft coverage.

wow, yeah im a paranoid expletive so i would keep it out of harms way. if you have the option dont use it for a while. you should have went straight up to him to find out what exactly he was doing. keep your enemies close.
on one occasion i was eating at a jack in the box, my bike parked outside in the shade of a tree in the parking lot 20% full. i look out the window as i make my order, sit near the window as i eat. about 10 minutes pass, and i see two males walk up to my bike, lay down a tool kit right in front of it and start looking at it aggressively. one speculating and one opening the toolkit, im like expletive cmon, im just a poor college kid and this is my only transportation please leave me alone. so i wasnt about to watch them jack my parts or expletive my bike. i had to do something.
i went outside and approached them, and they seen me coming, and packed up the tools and started to walk away. so i yelled to them, i was about 10 feet away from them, "what the expletive are you guys doing, where are you going? get back here." i ran up behind them, suprisingly they stopped and there i began dialogue. they were nervous. a third man came up in a truck and was gonna pick them up, but they were talking to me, so the third guy was trippin and just left.
i told them my situtation and was like please dont take my ****. then one dude says come over here to the side, and i talk to him and he tells me that they were gonna make like they were fixing the bike, but really they had just stolen like 50 cd's from Borders across the street and wanted to take the security devices off so they could sell it to a cd store that buys cds up the block. then the dude opens up this bag and its full of cd's/dvds. then i talked with them about some more bullshit, got his contact info, get this he called himself "Decipher", and then they left. that was quite nerve racking. i bought an alarm that day.
p.s. is that the correct way to spell racking? is it wracking, wrecking? thanks
