Turbo Charge 95 LS Automatic Project
I am working on turbo Charging my 95 LS Automatic Integra. I am still piecing together the kit. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this? I could really use the insite from others who have done this.
Once I get started with it I will put up pictures step by step of the process that we go through.

yeah i thought about doing that but i wanted to do something different. I dont see many 4dr automatics turbo charged. Right now it is all for show and it looks fast but im sick of getting my @$$ kicked by other cars.
My boyfriend and I just turbo charged a scion TC and that was easy. Now we are working on my car for the winter. I might just have to go with swaping out the tranny.
Why is it so hard to turbocharge an automatic anyways?!?

Umm you wanna be different? I didn't know driving a slow car was being different. lol The car would be much faster in stick form. There was a post a couple of days ago about someone that did the auto to manual conversion. The car was bone stock. Auto trim it ran a 17.1. After the manual conversion it ran like a 16.0 or a 15.9. A full second faster just from making it stick.
its not really all that slow it ran a 16.7 in the quarter just this last summer. I didnt say that it was fully stock. I thought that turbocharging an automatic would be different!
... Damn if thats not different then I should just sell my car and buy a new one.

wow, if you think 16.7 isn't that slow, I suggest you learn a little more before considering turboing a car. Plus you drive a honda, its very hard to be different. And turboing an auto teg imo is not different, its just stupid.
ok smart one then what would you suggest?? I like my car and want it to go fast. Driving a honda isnt bad now is it? I dont really know all that much about cars and thats why I came here to ask all you guys what you thought. I didnt ask for you to tell me i was stupid.

i say go for it try it out but im thinking with low tourqu numbers and waiting for it to spool the thing is going to he a dog. i guess the good thing is gunn be consitancy u will always run the same time.... NE ways goodluck

Everyone should know that Honda automatic trannies are garbage. You don't see many Automatic turbocharged Integras because the tranny will take a dump within a few weeks.
Automatic Supras are better than manual ones for drag racing because Toyota knows how to build an automatic tranny that can withstand a great deal of horsepower, unlike Honda.

ey... try all motor... thats what i'm doing. yesterday and today, i ran at cmi @ Sacramento... i hit 16.2 two times, 16.1 two times, and the best was a 15.9 with just a basic set up... oh yea, my LS is an auto too!!! REPRESENT! my reaction times weren't that good though... plus, it was my first time at the tracks... so, i suggest u do all motor first then, if that's not enough, add a super charger or a turbo.. or if not then, nitrous!! forget all the haters, dont take the crap.

the auto tranny for honda won't be able to handle high horse power applications for too long.
like someone else stated above</TD></TR></TABLE>
that is true. HOWEVER....you COULD spend about 1500 bucks for a kit that will do a manual valve body job on your automatic tranny to hold up a certain amount of power ( it basically rebuilds it for you ). It also comes with a high stall converter too. Then again, you can spend even more for a sequential tranny too
But hey........no one ever said modding a car was easy...or cheap.

I strongly erge you to either sell the car and get a 5 speed or do the conversion before you even think about doing a turbo kit. JUST A THOUGHT THOUGH

Different in what way? Theres a lot of turbo tegs on this board, many of which aren't auto beacuse of the low torque numbers they put out and low torque + turbo = waste of money. Everyone is just suggesting that you either keep it the way it is, sell it, or do a manual swap before you turbo it.

You do realize reaction time has no effect on your 1/4 mile time.

Do like I said already and many others have too, manual conversion then turbo. You'll never be fast with an automatic turbo.

i think it would neat to see somebody figure out how to really make a Honda automatic strong, or make some adapter plate for an accord or even the odyssey 3.5L's automatic transmission to work with the 4-cylinders, since those can withstand lots more torque. i've never seen the bolt pattern or whatnot on those, and axles would be beeotch, but at low boost i doubt the automatic would still be a slug as long as you don't mind flooring it all the time to get it to downshift and build boost. plus, you'd have full-throttle shifts
. kinda far-fetched, but my point is that a reliable automatic turbo honda would be very interesting and very rare indeed. very different, if that's what you're going for, and easy to drive in traffic.

I just want to pull off a successful automatic LS Turbocharged car. First off I cannot drive a sitck and dont want to learn. Secondly I dont want my car the fastest in the world. I dont really care about beating a GSR. Im going to play with the motor a litte bit and build up the tranny even if i have to do some custom work to the damn thing. If it breaks then oh well looks like its time for an engine swap or a parts car. Im sure ill figure it out.
I don't care if you swap to a stick or not. Your tranny is going to **** a brick soon after you turbo your car. Plus wouldn't it be hard to tune? Like you can keep your manual in one gear, but the auto will want to change gears.
Oh, regarding supras, most of the automatic trannies get swapped out for TH350 or TH400 trannys because the toyota ones can't handle THAT much power.

already did my homework on this.. like most said.. the tranny WILL fail eventually..
a jackson racining supercharger on the other hand.. with just the 6lb pulley might be a better bet. it'll make your car a little more peppy, but it will be no race car. it wont put out as much as a turbo, but it will be up there.
i know a kid with an automatic rs that has a jrsc, and he has had it on for 8k miles, and has had no transmission problems.. just a few tuning issues with the blower, but thats it.

goodluck with the auto project! i would def keep it auto then convert to manual...Did the manual conversion once and it was a pain...

sorry, in order to be a sleeper it has to beat something.
automatic = best daily driver in big cities with lots of traffic.
and if you want less power to preserve the trans, run like 4-5psi w/o an intercooler. you'll have much better boost response thanks to only 2 ft. of charge pipe and unless you have a rediculously undersized turbo the outlet temps won't be all that bad anyways. i think this sounds like the ultimate in what you're looking for.
and no, tuning doesn't have to be really difficult. i'm sure it's easy enough to unplug one of the solenoids and keep it from changing gears. i don't know automatics well but if that's not possible then get that little gizmo i saw that tells the automatic trans to stay in one gear and never leave it. it's basically a manual shift pad for an automatic. press button 4, it goes into that 4th and stays there.

5 Grand in mods...
Turbo
A GSR with 5k in the engine on a serious boost set-up (with good tuning) should eat a Auto Supra up.
Oh by the way, I have seen it many times.
