Default Watkins Glen - Anyone wanna crew? (Car Racing)

I'm going to be heading up there October 20th for my last race of the season on the 21st and 22nd. I know it's not mad fast bike rac1nG y0 but we could always use an extra hand to help out in the paddock. Given the distance I obviously won't have my bike with me but wouldn't mind meeting up with anyone who's in the area. Shout if you need more details.

I'd be all over it if I didn't have school/work.

Is that what your 85 944 is for? What about the EMRA race at Summit they always have late in November, not racing then?

Yes. http://www.44cup.com/homepage.html

This will mark the first time the Series has run with EMRA. A good portion of our races are with NASA-MA but scheudle changes forced us to look elsewhere. We got a very warm reception from EMRA so chances are we will court them in the future. The Glen is our 7th and final round of racing this year but round 6 is this weekend at Summit.

That's debateable. I'm the youngest in the series with most of the guys 5, 10, even 20 years older than I am. Being fast is 10% talent, 20% ***** and 70% experience and everyone who finishes ahead of me has more ***** and more experience. I'm currently 6th of 26 starters this year and the four guys who routinely finish 1-4 are driving 10/10ths at all times. I can hold my own with the rest of the field but I'm not there yet.

I figured that was you.

I know your name now and I'm coming to steal that SV.

I bet that Vimmerstedt guy is tough. He sounds like a tough dirty racer. I like him.

Reference my post in the GPS thread. Insurance is paid in full so I could just get me the bike I really want. Besides, you'd need to break into the garage after hot-wiring both my and the wife's cars to move them to get it out. Not unless you can dead lift 500 punds over your head.

He's 71 and that car only has ~130 bhp... but it's nice you have someone to measure yourself against.

Niceeee.

I'm sure I'm faster then some others but I didn't have a lap timer when I was there, and he's the only one I I'm faster then. I bet I can even kick his *** in a fight.

So there are different classes within the 944 cup race? I see where the different models are broken into different classes, H, I, J and K.

Only two classes...

Cup for the 944, 924 and 924 Turbo
Super Cup for the 928, 944S/S2, 944 Turbo and 968

Those other class designations are from PCA/SCCA classes and are only used to determine weight (because they are varrying levels of prep).

How many 928's are usually fielded? I've always had a thing for those, not sure why but I love them. I'm going to try to make it to Summit Point this weekend but doubt if I'll have time plus I have a hard time missing Skins games.

We haven't had one yet. Their drivers tend to... how you say... cherish their cars.

Yes, a true trailer queen. My dad once got harassed for moving the cars from the street in front of the mechanic to their parking lot. The cop was a bit overzealous but they're relatively obvious about not being street legal.
