Bought a EP3 shell what should I do with it?
After years of building everything but Honda's (after my S2K) I found a EP3 shell for sale today and bought it.
Car is running and drivable but the motor has like 110K on it and the suspension is pretty much gone but for the price it was a killer deal and I always wanted to see what I could do with a civic
I am calling it a shell because it needs body work and it was that cheap.
So the big question is what should I do with the thing, I would like to build a track car out of it, maybe swap to a 6 speed build a quick/cheap turbo kit to use till the motor goes and then replace with a RSX-S/R swap.
Car has new decent tires on stock rims, a horrible spring lowering kit, factory red badging, Factory wing and side panels, tinted windows. Its black and in real decent shape on the inside dented quite a few places down low so maye when I do the body work I will do a two tone paint job.
So what would you do with a SI that you are not afraid to chop into little pieces

Just my two cents, but here goes.
Gut the interior and put in a cage and seat with race straps. Get a good set of fully adjustable coilovers and a real thick rear stabilizer bar, some lite *** 16" wheels and sticky tires. Then add a k20a with a race header and good exhaust, a Mugen intake and k pro. To me that would be a really fun car to drive, for sure if you can let it be a track car.
Good luck!

I always liked the black roof with the lower half in a color like the Top Secret gold. I am going to spray it myself and do the bodywork, I hate hate hate spraying black I can never get it right.
If I do the swap on the cheap side, say RSX-S one thats 4-5K. Strip out is free, cage 1500, seats Free from the cash of selling the interior, sway bar and decent springs say 450, skipping the coilovers because I don't really want to do them without going full race and corner balancing and balancing them.
I would have under 12-13K in the car complete.
Any body have pictures of a nicely prepped track ep3

Whats a K24 going to run me to build, figure I keep the current transmission for the gearing and then just drop the motor in. I know that I could go all out and do a cnc rsx-s head and would need a hondata. Say 6K total with a better clutch and a little custom work.
Also civic parts are cheap man. 650 buck for a full weld in scca legal cage, slipstreams for 500-600, tire are decent. Got to look at brake kits but man this stiff is 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of S2000 parts.
I think I am going to go two tone though just for fun and to get my bodywork skills back. does anybody have the top secert gold color code because they want like 500 a pint for the stuff and thats just nuts.

Got a few parts for the car, (stock susp. and intake so I can get it back to 100% stock to get a feel for how honda set it up.
Got the garage prepped, this weekend the whole interior is comming out, but I am not pulling the dash. I need to find a carbon or aluminium plug for the sunroof which is another 50lbs out of the car.
I think that I can get a good 450lbs out of it it I go as far as taking the air conditioning out along with all the dash weight. But I am going to put a good 60-75 lbs back in with the half cage and the replacements seats another 25lbs at least with the harness and everything else.
Apparently the sound deaping is a major pain to remove but I have a source for liquid nitrogen so it shoudl come off real easy with that.
The plan is to use the car for the weekends and for driver training and HPDE. I might move into the honda challange if the GRM car does it and is at least semi competitive. It should be classed in H3 with the base RSX and others. No weight is given so thats up in the air.
Just going to have fun with it. I can always pull the cage and bolt the interior back in if I feel like selling it, but I will more then likely put it into a wall or hand i off to friends who want to go to the track with me before I think of doing that.
And yes I am going to two tone it, I need to get spraying again.

I just picked up an 03 SI w/ an RSX tpye S swap and its AWSOME. (would be better w a TSX 2.4 bottom end, but)...
D2 full coilovers, newspeed x brace, injen intake, DC race hdr, magnaflow exhaust and bone stock Type S swap. Handles great!
204 hp and 146 TQ to the wheels. w/ K pro and cams you can EASILY bump it up another 40+ HP
Hank
check out ww.ep3.com or http://www.clubrsx.com great info, and u should be able to find a swap and other parts...
