Alpine CDA-9831 - Need help adjusting settings. (Subwoofer, x-over)
I have almost zero experience with car electronics, so please forgive any apparent stupidity or ignorance in my question.
I bought my car with the sub, amp, cap, and the deck already installed and tuned. Over the past weekend, I had to hook up a DCI adaptor for the dash controls. I had to unplug the deck, so all of the eq, x-over settings were erased. My sub hsed to hit pretty clean and somewhat hard, but now, it sounds very muted. I turned up the sub level, but it still doesn't sound as crisp. Also, I think there is too much bass going to the speakers instead of the sub.
So, the question:
What is HPF, LPF? I know it stands for High/Low Pass Filter, but what exactly does it do? I can set both to OFF->80Hz-->120Hz-->160Hz. I'm not quite sure what effect it's having.
Can you suggest what else I need to mess with in order to get the sound levels to be balanced?
Thanks in advance.

i got that same hu, and its pretty frustrating to set the bass and treble since it only has an eq to go by. I set the HPF at 120 and LPF at 120 and save them. I still haven't figured out any good settings for the eq though.
