i have a 92 civic hb W/ a ls-vtec with a b16 tranny, i was cruzuin about 45 and i got a ticket for doing 60 in a 45. what gives?
i am all so running 15 rota N-groups with 205/50 Kumo's with ls brakes in front If it matters.

yeah tire size will change it but not 20mph at that slow of a speed, my b16 with 205/45-17's and at 70 im off about 5mph.

i was given a 54 in a 35 by a ******* mob wanna be who didn't like my red civic.... i was doing about 40.. cops are people man.. they can pick on anyone... some of them got picked on by kids and now they're returning the favor.. or they just don't like you.. or are jealous of the car... or are doing their job right (but not in this case). they're not robots who do the right thing all the time... expletive at least 1/4th of them are ******* bipolar maniacs..

anyway rant is over... go fight so that cops don't hassle anyone, instead do their job like they should and give only reasonable tickets when they're really deserved

SO WHAT if I drive 10 miles over in a deserted area? Just because I'm over the speed limit doesn't mean it's unsafe and the whole speeding ticket should be about safety, not some stupid laws that old farts thought would save the world... I'm the one going under speed limit in highly populated areas and around schools but I'd blast my car every chance I get whenever it's safe... so in my opinion, i'm a reasonable driver even if I don't follow all the ******* speed limits... i'd rather observe the road and environment than observe the ******* speed limit

anyway, that was a stupid rant but who cares.. i needed to vent because i have at least 2-3 speeding tickets every year... maybe more.. but i haven't had a single accident and i've been driving for over 8 years... and i get smarter as I age so that's a good thing...i drive safer now (not slower) but i still think many of the tickets given out are complete bullshit

Personally the cities around me love to set up those automatic radar signs which report your speed as you drive past them... if you have them too, I'd drive past one and verify that your speedo is accurate. Otherwise you could hit a drag strip, make sure the speed at the end of the run matches what your speedo's reporting.

I doubt you're going to find the speedo's off by 14mph at 40mph indicated, but it's best to verify it's accuracy before going to court.

If it turns out your speedo isn't accurate, go to court and explain the situation to the judge, and say you were unaware of the situation and have since adjusted your driving habits. He should give you court supervision or the like - you'll still have to pay a fine & court costs, but at least it won't go on your record.

Traffic court is basically cops word vs. your word, and there is a presumption of guilt (at least in my state), so you're probably going to end up paying unless you show some due diligence to verify your speedo (because it'll make your claim of innocence seem a little more genuine).

my friend has GPS on his phone and we tested mine, its stock everything and my speedo is 5 mph faster than im actually going.

i doubt highly urs is 20 mph off

 

the best way is to have a friend drive behind you, if your speedo is at 60, call your buddy and see if it shows 60 on his speedo. Use headsets tho.

anyways i got pulled over at the end of the month last month, and the whole road is 35 mph, but theres this section that turns to 30, and the cop was hiding right behind the sign that turns 30, so he got me doing 41 on a 30.

luckily he was pretty cool about it and it was my first violation in 3 years of driving, he gave me a warning. BUT on the warning thing he put "going 47 on a 30" im likw WTF !! after he left but i'll take that over a violation anyday....

bah.. just pay the fine, if you fight it you will be doing exactly what the officer wants you to do... give him overtime pay...and in the end an embarrassing moment with the judge which you will loose anyway, along with taking a day off work aswell. since there is no weekend court..

all tickets are written to appear in court on the officers days off. hence if he/she writes a ticket they put to appear in court on their dayoff, if you decide to fight it in court then thats a gurantee payday.


and remember you will have to prove you werent going that fast... not the other way around where the officer has to prove you were going that fast...

the judge will hear the officer first, and you get to then give you story, in which you will have to prove you werent going that fast.

i am not complaining about the ticket i was wanted to know if there was any know problems with the b16 vss giving the wrong signal...
i do plan to just pay the ticket.

 

just a question, if take a pic of ur speedo with a phone and it has the time and date and the cop gives u a ticket for speeding, could u use taht in court to justify ur speed limit? would it be valid

No, it would not hold up in court at all. The time on the ticket would not be the same as when the cop pulled you over, a snapshot would not be admitted as any sort of evidence.

OMG, if they pull you over it is for a reason. They don't just sit on the side of the road and decide to pull you over because your car is blue.

 

actually JDM-97CX im not sure where you live but i know for instance around my parts ( ATL, GA) there is some pretty gay cops. I was with a friend of mine who got pulled over in his E30 M3 BMW and the copped told us straight up " I just figured I would pull you guys over just to make sure you didn't have anything illegal and mainly just because I hate imports"

so yes they are suppose to have a reason or probable cause. but not always.....

 

I get followed home and often stopped (1 or 2 times every 2 weeks) when comming home from work at 1:00-2:00. The cops around me in Philly like to follow and harass anyone with an exhaust or anything modded to thier car...apparently we are all "drag racers".
