I hollowed out my catalicic converter, and now I wish I hadn't. Honda wants like $800 for a new one. Other than a junk yard, can anyone tel me where to pick one up cheap without sacrificing quality?

 

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a used one in the Marketplace.

 

why do you wish you hadn't? i thought it helped your power and backpressure.

 

It produces a tin like raspy noise from under of the car, and it's too loud now.

 

wut exhaust are you running? are you sure you replaced cat correctly? i don't remember, but i think there is a rubber grommet thing between the header and the cat.

 

There is a rubber grommet between the header and cat, you can find them at just about any autopart store for about $3. What did you expect?

 

replace the grommet it might fix it. if not, then u are just getting more airflow to your muffler and thats wuts doing it. if u have a perforated core muffler (or any other high-flow ricey sounding muffler) it will just amplify the noise with more airflow. my suggestion is go to a junkyard and just rip 1 off.

 

It's not missing any gaskets or gromets, it just has this tin like noise, I've got a DC sport ceramic 4-2-1 header, hollowed cat, and a GSR muffler.

 

I don't know what the laws are in your states but in Vermont you can only buy cat's from the dealer. I thought I could just rip one off of a civic in the junkyard but when I brought it up to the guy to pay for it they said it was a 1000$ fine for them to sell part of the emissions system etc. I bought a magnaflow cat off ebay and that was a good deal but I haven't welded on the flanges so its not being used yet. I looked up the part on Majestic Honda and its like 600$ for my Y7 cat/header. hope the info helps.
