Default Trans setup for SOHC

Planning on doing some Road Courses next year with an EG Civic. Any thoughts and experiences on FD for this transmission?
4.7 the ideal Ratio? I would think a 4.9 might be too much for some courses that have longer straight aways so the 4.7 would be a compromise.

Also, can the Hydro FD fit somehow in a cable transmission SOHC?

Only one way to find out Think about what your corner speeds are and how it will affect the shift points.

We had a 4.7..better than stock, but decided that the 4.9 would probably be better. We didn't encounter a track that we thought the 4.7 was "the best" for...we always wished we had done the 4.9 instead.
However we cannot say (yet) how it does vs. the 4.7 as the new car has been under construction. If you are not in a hurry, check back w/ us after the ARRC in Nov as we have plenty of track data at RA in our car with both stock & 4.7... after that event we can say more about the 4.9

a WCHC nor cal racer had one in his SOHC VTEC del sol, and for sears it was good, but i think he wasn't super happy with it for thunderhill.

Check with the WCHC so cal racers, they should know.

I think the 4.7 might be a better compromise than the 4.9

A difference from 4.25 to 4.7 might be good enough in general.

How so? did he run out of gearing at thunderhill?
I am tryin to decide which one to get for our civic. 4.7 or 4.9?

3rd gear in our civic goes till like 110+ mph sucks

As long as it doesn't affect your top speed I'd say 4.9. A couple of times when I thought I would have to dog through a turn in the next gear up I found I could go another 200 or so revs and be fine or that I was actually faster shifting up earlier

He was on the rev limiter in certain areas, and couldn't really shift. It just wasn't as good as the 4.7 he thought.

A 4.7 (which I use) is perfect for big Willow and Cal Speedway (roval). But I think the 4.9 would better suit Buttonwillow.

For you guys using 4.9, are you at the stock fuel cut?

I've looked up the gears/speed and don't think I'd run out of gear with the engine I'll be building.
