Default Engine swap or modification

What would be a good engine for a 93 civic dx coupe? What would I need to do to modify the existing engine to make it a v-tec? I believe it's a 1.5l. What is the engine code for this engine. I can't find any reference for it anywhere.

Thanks...

Its a matter of your budget. The dohc engines will make more power than a d series like yours. Here are some of the engine codes.

awesome link, ya it would be nice to go with a vtec head on your dx, but from experience you are better off saving your money and going either with a b16 or even an b18 if you have the budget. I would hate for you to gain that 20 hp with a single cam vtec head, and blow it up. Then just going with a b16 and having some good stock power. good luck with your setup
