Default Anybody heard of STATUS seats?

I think these seats are big in the Euro scene with BMW guys, but does anybody have any experience with them? I have the opportunity to trade my Black JDM ITR Recaros for a set of Carbon Fiber ones that weigh 5.2kg. According to their price list, they go for $1195 each, so as long as they have a good reputation I think I'll do it.

Here is the link to the seat at their website - http://statusracing.com/featuring.asp?id=monza

I've been into the "BMW scene" for around 4 years now, and I've never heard of that brand.

All the BMW club racers and DE'ers go with Sparco(pretty much like here).

Do you know if they're FIA approved or anything? If they are, I'd ASSUME they'd be alright, though I sure couldn't say for sure.

After looking at their site, it doesnt mention anything about FIA approval, so I'm going to have to assume that they arent

looks like copies of other existing brands and models

don't know if they are knock off or OE production

Spoon

Recaro SPG

Recaro Racer SPG

Sparco S-Light

not necessarily a bad thing. maybe they get their seats from the OE manufacturers that make the same seats for the name brands. who knows

If they have a phone number, give them a call, that's usually the best way to get a definitive answer.

a customer at the shop i work at has them in a subaru. the seat themselves look ok and are pritty snug. compreable to a pro2000 i think. but the bracket and slider are junk. lots of movement laterally and everything seems to be installed and tightned correctly.

As of early this year, none of their lineup had FIA approval. Talking to a distributor, this is not their focus.

so pretty much they are knockoff seats

but hey, if they are still pretty good quality, why not. still good for HPDE

mind you their carbon kevlar seats are pretty pricey

Well, if they aren't interested in getting certifications, how do you know it is a safe seat?

every ad i have seen for status seats says they are pending and expecting FIA approval. the company is just a few monthes old. i wouldnt just assume that this company is a knockoff specialist.

Shop around and you can buy a Recaro Pro Racer SPG for less than that.

How is it possible that their reputation could be good, relative to Recaro - or any number of other manufacturers for that matter? I'm not saying they suck - we just don't know anything about them.

What car are you putting those in?, From the pics I have seen of your car you don't have a cage or 5 point belts. there for a street car? hrmmm.

Your car was the one going under the cover in the back yard, right?

their prices is absurd for non FIA certified seats. seems to be they're just trying to get over on unsuspecting people and make some big bucks. and maybe it's just me, but the name is sooo cheesy.

I think the name of the company tells you all you need to know about the quality.
