Does AEM bypass valve lower your hp or torque?

Anything that slows down the flow of air will decrease performance. Then again, we're probably talking about losing 0.5 of the 1.5 whp that you got from it in the first place. I don't use a bypass, but if you're paranoid, go ahead and install one.

i felt no decrease at all. i think there is one, but it is extremely small. but i feel a lot better when my cash splashes through deep puddles now.

you mean if you're smart...what's $50 when it could save your engine? if you're going to run a CAI do it right the first time.

yes it is true... after i bought my aem bypass valve and before installing it on, i read the "directions..." something after that says will lose several horsepower. after reading that, i friggin returned that piece of shiet. my cold air intake (just two short ram pipes connected to each other) does fine in puddles... except this once where the puddle was up and over my friggin filter... my car died while going over it but it managed to pass the water. it took like two minutes to start up the engine and i didn't have problems. the only thing was that the water covered my filter so it couldn't suck any air. that's why it died... haha

I say just keep your stock air box around and when the rainy season hits, swap it out. Its not like you're going to need that horsepower in the rain. The bypass valve is going to hinder performance, so might as well just put the CAI in the garage for the winter and drive a tad bit slower.

Yes. Anytime there is a change in piping diameter, a restriction, etc, there will be a pressure change. There will be a loss in power. In this case, the amount will be negligible.
So technically the answer is yes. But the answer you're looking for is no.

hmm, when did speeds in excess of 30 MPH determine the significant gains between a CAI and a SRI?

yea i think im just gonna get a sri because check this out...

so i decided im getting a weapon-r intake and then i will just buy a weapon-r icebox for it.

umm the only thing wrong with that entire test was it was done on a dyno...the benefits of all the CAI systems come from driving...a dyno is never going to give accurate gains for a CAI system unless they can use a fan to simulate the rush of air to the filter at highway speeds

yea that is true though, does anyone have their dyno results from just having a sri or cai, now that will tell you how much hp or torque you get from an intake, but then again u have to have a fan that stimulates highway speeds rush or air.

Hahaha, oh no! Somebody call 911!!!! We've got to get this intake to the hospital!
