Default ITR vs GTI

Hey guys.....Me and my friend were driving and this pretty new GTI rolled up next to us. When we heard the turbo spool up that shitt pullllled harddddddd. We talked to him and he said he had a intake and an exhaust. He started messing around with us and it was kind of weird. He would pull like Crazy and then all of a sudden he would run out of power and the itr would pull. THen from a 20mph roll the itr pulled like crazy and it would suddenly start catching up and then the itr would pull again, then it would all of a sudden get a whole bunch of power and start catching up again and the itr would eventually pull again. IS THIS NORMAL. are GTI's suppose to have big bursts of power when the turbo starts spooling with intake and exhaust? Were only used to the top end power of VTEC and were kinda amazed when the car pullled so hard. Are GTI's suppose to be that fast from a roll when they have intake and exhaust?, I think if we didnt start from a 20mph roll he would of killed us, cause the only reason we pulled was cause it was in first gear.

Stock they are nothing to worry about. But intake and exhaust With the ecu change and they become 12 sec cars. But from what I have seen... The VWs will run out of power on long runs and then their weight just kills them.

the gti when chipped will spool up to 20-25 lbs(@ approximately 4500 rpms) and then drop off to about 10-12lbs(6500 rpms) because the turbo is small and inefficient

So very true!!
After so many years the TypeR is still way better than any GTI

Stock cars with turbos have to get air from somewhere, right? Maybe the stock airbox is a restriction.
