Default 97 wiper question - switch bad?

i just searched for a little while and came across a write up to clean your connections in your wiper switch. the car is a 97 civic dx coupe and my intermittent wipers stopped working a couple of weeks ago. well it was raining today and i decided to see what the prob was. there is no relay to my knowledge and if the fuse blew then the wipers would not work at all. since i cleaned the connectors the intermittent part still does not work. so am i safe to assume my wiper switch went bad? any feedback appreciated.

try another switch if you could, otherwise it could be your icu = interaged control unit located behind the underdash fuses panel.
