HIDs won't work. HELP!!!
I purchased a set of HID from BMW X5 from a Honda-Tech member last week.
He had everything done and it was on his car and they worked, or so he says.
He sent me the integra headlights; retrofited already. He also sent me 2 ballasts.
I installed the headlight housing in my integra and then hooked up the ballasts to the HID bulbs.
Then, I bought a plug from autozone to plug in the ballast. I then wired the other end of the new plug that i bought into the stock harness wires.
As far as I know I don't have to do anything.
Oh yah, he told me to change the fuses for the low beams to 20amps instead of the stock 10amps under the dash. So I did that.
But the lights don't work at all.
Can anyone help me??
TIA.

make sure you have the wiring right, i had the same problem. and if you did the wiring wrong, make sure the fuses are not blown. i left you my cell # call me, ill help you out.

Quick question guys, regarding the stock harness. Is the extra going from it to the ballast, is that enough to prevent any melting of the original wires or anything?
Thanks
Thanks

I had the same problem with mine, it said in my insturctions that some kits needed to be changed around, but it seems to only be integra's

Just make sure you have a relay harness for your headlight. Also, don't change the fuse to a 20amps. Our headlights is suppose to take 10, not 20. I used to have play and play kit and changed the fuses too 20 and used it for 2 years. Nothing happen but they say that you shouldn't do it. So now I retrofit my headlight and try to use the 10 amps fuse, but it blows everytime I turn on the hid. so then I got the relay harness, after that, putting a 10 amps fuse is not a problem.

it was a joke...he meant the headlights need a starter to light up and that's why they weren't working....chill out

like suken said, make sure you build a wiring harness w/ relays, diodes and fuses. this will prevent any melting of the stock harnesses. just follow this diagram and you should be good.

i have done a few of these, its pretty complicated till you just sit down and do your homework first. then it will be easy once you know what all the parts are for and why they are used.

He's using Hella Gen3 ballasts, with integrated ignitor.
They didn't work before because you had the polarity wrong. When I made my headlight harness I had to be real careful and pay special attention to which wires went to power and ground, which terminals on the ballast were power and ground, etc.
Most HID kits require you to change the headlight fuses to 20A because of the increased power draw upon initial startup. After the ballasts warm up they draw less current than standard 51W 9006 bulbs.
When you make a relay harness, you can use the stock 10A headlight fuses because the power for the lights is coming straight from the battery, and the headlight switch is only used to switch the relay (stock wiring has all the power for the headlights coming through the headlight switch itself, retarded design IMHO).

Yah i did have the power and ground switched, but they work now.
Ok, so i'll have to make a relay harness, i'll get cracking on that tomorrow and get rid of my 20A fuses to 10A once i have the relay made and installed.
Thanks
