Default i could use some help from you guys

i dont have honda but i love your forum becouse its full of smart ppl lol

ummm i got a new welder and im going to try and fab a intake and exhaust for my scion tc tonight just for fun

does any know the address to jcwhitney in chicago so i can pick up some mandrel bent pipe

and if i make the intake to long will it drasticly reduce low end tourq or would it actualy help???

also where do you guys pick the velocity stack you put to on insted of filters??? i want one so i can use it at import wars for a couple of runs i want to see if it realy helps any i do consistant 15.8's stock so i want to try and drop this down a 1/10 of a sec or two also the times i ran it was 120 degrees on the track so im sure the cold october air will help a tad also

im also going to dyno the car stock and with my fabbed stuff in about 2 weeks

any help would be great thanks

oh and real fast i have never done any thing like this lol

i have done welding at catapiller for a little while when i got out of high school so i can weld (they sent me to the Illinois weld school)

and in high school i built a gokart out of gas pipe with a 10hp engine that we have clocked at 45 mph on 16" rims with tires off a mustang i forgot the size but if you guys want pics of that monster i can post them we burnt up the clutch recently so she needs a new one and the break broke off but its a nice little project

but yeah as far as desining piping for optimal flow i have never done that and i dont realy know mutch about it i would asume straither is better but what ist he maximum bend i should do???

You should stay away from tight radius bends i consider tight anything smaller then a 2.5" centerline radius.

You should use aluminum for the intake and stainless for the exhaust, not sure what kind of welder you have but i know aluminum can be difficult to MIG

there is a way to caluclate proper intake length but it is probably easier to find by just playing around on the dyno.

If you need materials you can check out our website at http://www.burnsstainless.com

FYI if you are looking to fab some simple stuff for mock up and testing just use mild steel it's alot cheaper

cool right now i only have a cheap miller stick tig welder but i have a mig coming in the mail should be here soon

im going to do steel for now on the intake just to do a rough version and then ill try and do aluminum later

why would i not want to use steel is it becosue it doesnt disapait heat as easy???
