Default Looking for some advice...

Ok the H22A1 in my '95 Lude VTec will be coming out sometime in the next 2 weeks. Well the motor has 188k miles on it I'm wondering since I'm thinking about getting the head pnp'd and all that good stuff and probably Crower Stage2 Cams...should I go ahead and rebuild the bottom end while the head's off or will it be fine? It sounds great...no knock, no click, new timing belt, water pump, clutch only 2k miles ago. Also I was looking into TB's and IM's. With just a pnp'd head and cams I don't think they would help me that much. Give me your opinions guys.

Thanks

You'll get a better look once you take the head off what the cylinders and pistons look like. You could probably get away with leaving it, unless you want to be assured its good for the next 100k+ miles, depends on what you are going to do with it.

A few suggestions: If you get the Stage 2 Crower cams, get the matching spring/retainer kit to go with them. Then you can raise the redline a bit when you have it tuned(Don't forget to have it tuned, you will be WAAAAY lean in VTEC with those cams) Also, if you still have the auto tensioner, get that swapped to the manual.

Well...eventually I want to do a semi all-motor build. But I got other things to take care of before I do that. Right now it's the basic bolt-ons and like I said a nice pnp'd head and the Crower Stage2 Cams and valvetrain. Also...I'm running an untuned V-AFC Ver. I right now. Should I look into chipping my ECU or will the V-AFC be fine with just the cams and bolt-ons setup?

P.S. Looking for a good machine shop and tuner in the triad area of NC(Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point).

1) I'd go oversized type-s pistons for a bump in compression + bottom end freshening up.

2) Look up 'p1auto' for tuning - owned by b18cxr on this board. Great rep.
