Cheap and Reliable cannot be put in the same sentence, if your goal is 12's.

your gonna get flamed, Use the Search feature.

Turbo > Vtec

Vtec will cost more and turbo will smoke vtec all day long, Plus once you pull the head your gonna leak oil so Id say turbo is more reliable IF TUNED AND BUILT PROPERLY

EDIT I dont think LSVTEC\ Nitrous will hit 12s Unless you do the whole Motor, Pistons HCP, And the works.
A turbo on stock internals if done right will have you there for under 2K
go look at a type r Timeslips and then imagine how much $$ you will spend to get those numbers.

boost no doubt about it. ls/vtec start to die after 20g or so miles. i have a ls turbo and just about htewhole motor is done. i had 122hp extra only on 6psi iwth stock internals with goood uberdata tuning. rebuilt motor iwht ls motor 20+psi = 500+whph

LS Turbo.......A place for you and your kids

Hey dude, seriously though. I was thinking about LS/V for the longest time because of the whole budget thing....but I learn that "if you want to go fast, you can't go cheap" So save your cash and prep for boost. Take that route Boost is better and you can have the pride to say "Vtec this bitch"

Actually I think turbo will cost you less than LS/Vtec if you shop around, Its simple bolt on and tuning when compared to Pulling the Head off

Rusker is right on the money when he said...

"Cheap and Reliable cannot be put in the same sentence, if your goal is 12's."

If you really want to "FEEL" the hard earned money you spent...get a Turbo. boo yaahhh!

please use the search button next time since this topic has been beaten to death already.

and just to set everything straight, if done properly, both setups will end up costing about the same amount(if you bargin shopped for your parts).

neither can definately be reliable or unreliable. it depends who builds it.
turbo will obviously give you more bang for the buck.

I was thinking about that same thing today ls/vtec vs ls/t. I'm going with turbo personally. But how much hp gain do you get with a properly installed lsvtec? what head would be best?

Mannnnnn... I'm personally going with the LS-Vtec setup... true about what all you guys said, but any setup can beat anothers. Just depends on the work that's been done...

^^the words of a non-turbo owner hehe

Good turbo kit $2500 at least. $3500-4000 for good stuff. And then a high mileage motor running 10psi just doesn't last. But it runs 12s.

With $2500 you can build a decent lsvtec. Pistons rods cams etc... Throw 100 shot on it and it still runs 12s. You've spent less $$ and you have a reliable 12 second car. Plus it's unsuspecting. I like sleepers myself.

I'm not knocking turbos here. But everyone on this site talks about how much better turbos are than nitrous, superchargers, or even normally aspirated. I do believe that when a car is running 10s. How many integras on here run 10s? We're talking 12s here.

We can all agree on one thing though. If it's not tuned right you're sol no matter what you do.

I was in a huge debate over this for a long time. I'm going to go LS/Vtec by Christmas. And then go turbo by May'ish of next year.

My Ls/Vtec is going to be little more than; B16 Head, SiR cams, Vtec ECU, Conversion kit, and one or two other things.

Conversion kit. Apparently you can find it on Ebay cheaper, and the gasket can hold boost.

Thats a Crock of **** there are guys on here running 10 PSI on motors with 150K+ and they are daily driven with no problems
you only hit 10 PSI if your at WOT so you have the choice on controlling the pressure on the motor.

Sorry dude but bang for the buck =

$2500 Turbo > $2500 Ls/Vtec

And plus who do you trust to do Precision work, Ive seen about 10 LS vtecs and All of them Leak oil at the head. It can be done right but 80-90% of the time you will Never get the head back on like factory.

Hey sackmaster Show 1 video of an LS\VTEC running 12s

$2,500 for a turbo kit? try 1,200 - 1,500 if you know how to shop. ls/vtec don't pass smog and you have to take apart your block. It's a lot of **** you have to do. IMO if you don't know your **** then don't try an ls/vtec. Turbo seems VERY much easier which is why im going turbo myself, bolt-ons are easier to work with. They're both sick. I personally would ls/vtec because all motor hp owns(and is also expensive as fu*k) but I wouldn't know what I would be doing and i'd prolly blow my ls. Im eventually going to ls/vtec but thats later with a project car. And plus turbo cars are just plain sick.
