Any experiences with the cheap ebay wheels such as this one?

Let me know cuz I might be getting one. I want a smaller than stock steering wheel or else I'd just get the stock one. Some of the rubber on the wheel is moving. Someone was trying out their muscles on the steering wheel and the same way with bushings, they get ruined if you rotate the rubber around the shaft.

So to end the rant, I need a new steering wheel. What inexpensive replacement is good with smaller than stock diameter? How's the 320mm? How's the steering response with a manual steering rack and a 320mm wheel on a daily driver?

they're alright. They serve their purpose, which is most important right?

(personally i would get the "bride" ones. Same **** but cheaper. And i would paint over the center cap.)

i have the sparco 383 and i'm very happy with it. I mainly got it as a theft deturrent in combination with a quick-release hub adapter. It feels a lot more like a big go kart when i drive, i love it. It's 330mm and i wouldn't go too much smaller than that if at all. 20mm makes a big difference believe it or not b/c the stock teg/civic steering wheel is 350mm. 330mm is perfect IMO.

Cons:
no air bag (will not pass inspection unless you replace the stock steering wheel)
no horn (only with hub adapter, otherwise you can wire one up)
loss of signal auto-cancel

Pros:
better steering feel
nice look
great drivability (closer to you than stock wheel)
Theft deturrent (only in combination with a quick-release)

 

the ones on tekniq are too expensive for what they are

anyway, i need something cheap and those bride ones will seem to do

how's the steering response with a 320mm wheel on a manual rack (that's on a 92 hatch)?

For the price you can't ask for much I have one of those but in the middle it has a mugen decal, everyone who has seen it likes it, much more comfortable then the oem wheel.. If you have the $$$ to buy a really expensive one do it if not this will work for you..

 

i don't care if people like it as long as it serves its purpose and that's a better grip, more accurate steering and not having to flip my hands all over the dash in order to make a turn (thats why i want a smaller wheel for tighter turns) but I'm thinking the force needed to turn will be higher and on a manual steering rack that won't be a good thing.. i'm willing to sacrifice some force for tighter turns though..

btw, do you have a manual rack? is your wheel 320mm? how has the steering response changed since you did this?

i'm sure even the cheap ones aftermarket wil have a better grip, will be smaller in diameter for tighter turns, and will have a working horn something that i need...

my horn currently doesn't work because i took out the old cable out from the reel and put regular cable in but it binds and gets cut.. so i'm hoping an aftermarket reel/hub will fix that problem
