Full H22 Swap
Ok so I'm getting ready to put the JDM H22 into my 92 si 4ws, so far ive been saving up to get the full swap off of hmotors because my car has 200k miles on it and id like to swap out most of the old parts that have a lot of wear on them. What other parts will i need to get other then the swap from hmotors? Im just trying to see how much money i need to get together before i have a sit down with the mechanic ill probably get to do it. thanks
dammm boy you were quick, thanks a lot i do remember hearing about that. anything else? exaust, or any other miscellanious parts ive probably never heard of
You will probably want to invest in all new gaskets and def. a new clutch while the engine's out........i also plan to invest in a lighter flywheel.....might as well while the tranny is already out of the car

if you are up to it you'd definitely save a lot of cash if you did the swap yourself. Really its not that hard to do at all. It definitely made me feel better about the whole thing doing it myself and things are done the way i want them and not half assed like some shady mechanics may do. Not saying that your mechanic is shady but they are out there. Just my 2 cents

yea, do the swap yourself. save a lot of money and put it torwrds tools and once you finish you will feel better knowing that you did the swap yourself. If you get in trouble just come back in here and let everyone know whats the problem and we'll help you out.

i just did the swap 2 days ago, here is what you need
engine/tranny (obviously)
parts from si h23 : fuel rail, external distributor, manual tensioner from h23
need: h22 header/exhaust, if you find a 5th gen then you need to lengthen it, vtec spark plugs, timing belt, new belts, new gaskets, water pump, might want to look into replacing axles, buy all new fluids (coolant, oil, ps) and look into a vtec radiator too
if you have more ?'s just say em

if you need help with wiring ill help you out. i can even draw a diagram thats easy to read and since you have a H23 in there already then your wire harness is wired for vtec already.

so i guess the general consensus from you guys is that its not that difficult eh? anybody know of a site that might have a lil write up on the basics of the swaps so i could see if its within my abilities? thanks again everyone for the help

He has a 92 so im pretty sure its not already wired for vtec. I think 93-96 models are though. I had to run the wires in my 92 but still its not that hard. Theres only 2 wires to the ECU and one wire that needs grounded.

http://www.preludeonline.com has a write up but you have to pay to be a member. My 94 s model was'nt wired for Vtec but like sabbotage said its real easy to do.
before i did my swap the biggest thing i ever did was change oil and brake pads. take your time, lable EVERYthing and you should be fine with doing the swap yourself. invest in a manual if you do nto already have one. good luck
