Hitting VTec only using 1/4 throttle, is that bad
yesterday my friend was wondering would VTEC would feel like if I just used 1/4 throttle. Well I tried it and it was pretty ugly. I revs rose so damn slow ( I think I was using less than 1/4) and when 5700 rpms came the engine noise change (switched to the larger Cam lobe ) and the engine started getting alittle frantic (like it wanted more fuel) Is doing this bad for the car????

hey try it just press the throttle down 1/4 of the way and hold it there until you get to redline. I will take some time be you'll get there. Just don't let up
IIRC the ECU has a WOT engagement for VTEC and a VTEC engagement point at some point other than WOT...
One of the reasons it is important to periodically check your throttle cable deflection is to be sure pedal to the metal = WOT. I'm not sure how much leeway the TPS gives you for reading WOT, but I'd imagine a 1% variance would not be insignificant.
