dats probably why it sounds so weird...if im not mistaken flow masters are made for american V8s..not our japanese four bangers..not sure what perforamnce sacrifice/gains u wud get from runnign that muffler, but yea...i have no idea...i just noticed u live in portland, ur the only person i seen on HT from PO..what area u in?
Flowmaster baffles is the cause of the Buhh Sound,
there are many peeps from Ptizzle up on hondaTech,
Performance chart
Twinloop > Magnaflow > Stock > Flowmaster > Ebayricer>
Sound Level Chart Left being Crazy Loud And right being quiet
Ebay Ricer < Flowmaster < Magnaflow< Twinloops < Stock
For good tone Stick to Magnaflow type for performance and quiet Go with Twinloop
performance is similar but the magnaflow is a str8 through design not 1 baffle

Those familiar with the flowmaster mufflers know that they are a perforated flow thru design that incorporates no baffles. I've been running a Flowmaster cat-back for the last year and it sounds and looks like the day i installed it.
Your 5th Gen is suseptable to what we refer to as the 2000rpm "buzz", of which ther is one factory "patch", a home grown fix and a Sh..t load of threads in here discussing it.
The Honda patch is a bolt and spring kit which is installed at the front of the "shorty pipe" ahead of the converter. (keeps engine vibration from transmitting thru the intermediate pipe)
The second is the application of a BMF steel hose clamp around the catalitic converter. What you've got is a broken heat shield weld, and the thing starts vibrating at 2000 rpm. The clamp holds it tight, so it can't vibrate

it's most likely the construction of the baffle plate, what kind of can you have btw? if it's made similar to flowmaster, you'll have the buffy tone because you have a wimpy honda motor
