hello all...here are some pics of the rollcage i built. i went to Wyotech which is an automotive technical school for those of you who do not know that. i have been welding for about 6 weeks. and this is my project that i did at school. this was done on a school comp car, not mine. so any comments would be appreciated... let me know what you think.. thanks!!!

Nice Cages!

Which campus did you go to? I just graduated from the Laramie, WY campus and got an 8 point cage put in my CRX while I was there.

 

sorry guys.. those are the only pics i have of the truck... to be honest i dont know what the truck was... i went to the west sacramento, ca campus.

i was thinking about going to the west sac wyotech. how do u like it? what kinda classes u taking?

 

well... i graduated there already. the cage took me about a week. its a nice campus... the only thing i hated was that our teachers would always compare things to your campus and say that " well in wyoming..... blah blah..." and it got annoying.. but i guess you guys are doin something right hahahaha

Why is there no diagonal bar in the main hoop on that cage?

 

Anyone know the weight on that 6-point?

Neither seem to have a diagonal brace in the main hoop.

 

you dont have to have a diagonal brace in the main hoop. the bar in the middle is a harness bar. and it also depends on what sactioning event you are trying to make your career.

 

You are right. I recall seeing several EVOs and such at JGTC running around with blingy cusco cages (actually racing)... I was talking with one of my friends when I was there and commented on its a death trap without a diagonal bar, and the guy heard me. He proceeded to get all defensive, and I pointed at a Honda that was in front of him and said "thats what a cage should look like". You don't have to have it, but if you are fabbing it custom, for saftey, why NOT?

 

well... i would have added alot more bars everywhere like an x-brace, etc. but time did not allow. i made a halo for the car but i didnt have time to finish it nor the a pillar bars.
