Default r.i.p...maybe

So it seems I have blown my motor...again. Driving to work this morning, overtake an old man on the fwy, BANG, white smoke and she's dead.

I dont have the money to swap another motor into this car, nor do i want to. I've spent too much money already on this car, only to be back in the same position.

Anyone know how much i can get for my shell?

91 DA white, black interior in perfect condition, clean body, no dents or major scratches. stock rims, and lowered. Any help is appreciated guys, thanks

What are you doing wrong to be consistently blowing motors?

yah, like he said

I shift at 6k all day, and powershift...

when i first got the car it had a cai. i got stuck in a storm in the high desert and i'm sure you know the rest. cai + rain = And before you say it, no i couldn't just drop it in neutral and coast out of the water. Go ahead and flame me on that if you'd like

the motor that i replaced it with, which was out of a 96 ls, was a bad apple?

u might be able to get a grand out of the shell if you are lucky, you could buy a new LS motor and sell it for 2200+ all day long though

you do what all day long? overtake an old man on the fwy?

I could drop another ls in there, the mechanic said he could drop one in for a grand including labor. But I dont know if I want to be w/o a car while it's getting swapped, and then have to wait for a buyer

I really wish I could keep this car. I love it. the first car that I ever bought. She was good to me and I was good to her, until I killed her in the high desert. Since then it was never the same.

Do you really think i can get a grand for the shell? I've been asking around, the highest offer I got was 500 bucks, which I wont let go of her for that little.

Thanks guys for the replies

I'd like to, believe me. But I dont have the money right now to do a swap.

The mechanic told me he could do a B23 swap. Now if i'm not mistaken, a B23 is a motor that he pulled outta the sky???

Honestly, I think it would be hard to a grand for a DA shell. $500 is probably what I would pay, I mean you got to tow the shell to where you want then spend time on parts hunting. Lastly labor, rather you do it yourself or pay someone to do it all the while you can just pick up a running DA for around $2g.

Would a 2.3CL fit in a da tho?

I would love to pick up another da, but there aren't many clean ones here where i'm at. Well let me correct that...Their aren't many clean da's for sale round here. Maybe if i search a little farther...

i don't know why shifting at 6000 would blow the motor. many of us shift that high all the time and never have a problem. the only way i could see that being a problem is if you have a big dent in your oil pan or you just don't change your oil often enough. otherwise you should be fine. it's a honda; that means it's been overengineered. that is to say it was designed so that you could shift at redline every shift and it will never explode unless you race the crap out of it and overheat it, which may still be a possibility but stock radiator should be able to keep up with stock power output. i say you got a cheap motor. the swap is really easy; either get a B18B or get a B20Z. the B20 will require tuning though as the LS's computer runs too lean, duh, since the motor is bigger.

you said white smoke. did the motor sieze or did you shut it off yourself, while it was blowing white smoke.

White smoke = head gasket just drop 50$ and replace the head gasket. and fire it up. unless it hydro locked then maybe bent a rod.

I took my old ls with 170k on it to 7k all day long powershifting, no problems, now I take my b16 with 110k on it to 8300RPM all day powershifting, no problems!!

= over-engineering!!
