Default newbie shifter question

What is right for me? I would like a much harder, more precise shift feel and engagement. I also want scrafice as little throw and height as possible. Any thoughts?

If I have to I will give up height but I would like to keep as much throw as possible.

I just replaced my Skunk2 single with a Type R dual bend. The R isn't as short but feels alot smoother because the bearings in the Skunk2 got really fucked up. But at its prime I really liked it

edit: So you don't want the shifts to be shorter? Stock is for you my friend

what is single or dual blend. Is it tranny fluid? I was looking for direction in the area of maybe bushing or a certain shift lever.

Single bend (no L )

dual bend

When I installed the Energy shifter bushings, the shifts felt REALLY firm. I felt like I was shifting in a S2000

Still got my stock shifter as I'm 6'3" and the height is perfect. The long throws with the stock shifter are annoying at times, but I survive. The shifter was very loose when I got the car, but it's better now. I installed some ES shifter bushings and the shifts are way better. Very nice and crisp and it has no play at all. I say upgrade the weak stock bushings for some polyurethane ones and go from there.

Skunk2 Dual Bend and ES bushings. That shifter is pretty much stock height as well.

you might also try getting a smaller shift ****, this will reduce the height slightly but retain the shift throw. polyurathane bushings are a must! everywhere...

thanks for all the great info everybody. I'm going change the bushings. There seems to be a great install guide in the faqs that I will surely take advantage off. Now is ES shifter bushings the only company that make them. Are they the best? Is there compatiblity issues when using the stock shift lever and the es bushings? Where is the best place to get bushings?

bump and which will add more to a firmer feel, the short shifter lever or the bushings? How do the ebay version compare as well?

try to avoid the ebay short shifters (or any aluminum shifters)....i've SNAPPED a few of em. 2nd gear (brawwwrrrr) ...slam into 3rd...SNAPP!...uhh wtf?

if you're on a budget go with B&M ($50) short shifter. if you're gonna throw some money on a shifter just go for the Skunk2 ($100?). if you want a "firmer" feel instead of the stock mushy feeling, get an aftermarket bushings kit. you might not like the really firm feel at first, but i guarantee you will learn to love it after you start smashing into some gears!

If you have a swap (B-series) make sure you buy the ones for B-series. But if you got D-series, those should work fine. I made the mistake of that which was really annoying
