Default What First? Headers or Cams?

I have a GSR motor with 82mm bore 12:5 compression weisco pistons, Full valvetrain, ported head. I have $600 to spend, and i am wondering if i should buy a nice header or cams for the car. I was thinking about getting Skunk pro 2 cams, but not sure on what brand header i was thinking about buying. But which do you think that i should buy first. a header or cams?

start with a good 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust, i really like my kteller stainless piping, for a header in that price range i would go with a rmf or anr compact, possibly a sparks header if they are still available. cams are not going to do a whole lot if you dont have an efficient path to get rid of exhaust gasses. pro1's might be a better choice for you.

what are you revving the engine to? the pro2's seem to like more displacement and extensive head and intake work, the pro1's are and excellent all around cam

I dont know what i am reving to yet. I need to put it on the dyno and dyno it with the cams to know that. Got to see where the power drops off.

I can tell you right now the Pro 2's are gonna be overcamming it. B19coupe recently dyno'd them in his motor, no offense but it's bigger than yours, and he felt that they were too big. He made more power with the S2 Pro1's in his application. For a LITTLE more than $600 you could buy a Dc 4-1 header, or even better the JG manifold with the 2.5 collector. The maybe hook up a used set of S2S2's or BC4's. Any sort of management, i.e. H-data, Chrom, Uber? What valvetrain do you have?

So this is the question now. Should i get a header first or the cams?

Thats a pretty pointless question IMO. Your motor is built to point where if you do one without the other it isn't gonna do you a DAMN bit of good. You do cams, your manifold is gonna choke the **** out of it. You do a header, the gsr cams aren't gonna be able to keep up with it. I personally would do what I suggested above, or ..............WAIT. Then buy the two at the same time and have it tuned.

cams then dyno the motor. Then you can base your header purchase on the charecterisctics of the motor.

just me .02 cents.

Well I bought the Skunk Pro 1 cams. And I will be on the dyno tommrrow after i get the cams in. Will post up dyno numbers of car after tuning on some tiny DC sports headers. ANd in a month or two i will have another dyno sheet on some good headers.
