91 civic D15B (JDM) swap?
Sup guys, I have a friend that has a 91 civic with the D15 and his engine is on it's way out. He wants the D15B and we have found one but it is just the engine (no ecu/harness). He also wants to turbo it. What all do we need to do to get the engine running correctly in the car? Some people told us just get like an MSD vtec controller. I am sure it is more than that but I don't know that much. Also what all else would ya'll do when putting the engine in? I know like clutch, timing belt, oil pump, etc but what else would you do? Thanks for the input.
Oh... and please don't say just get a B16 or so.... he is hellbent on the D15B.

well im doing that for a crx with a D15B Vtec, its a simple install,
i would HIGHLY reccomend http://www.rywire.com and order the $190 conversion package for obd-0 to obd-1, thats a plug and play conv. harness, dizzy adapter, and OBD1 VTEC
Sub-Harness. Also find a P28 ECU and a 4 to 1 wire 02 censor, other then that you should have no problems with this swap. Drop in, plug in and play!!!
That should get you running, now as far as upgrading it, i would ask your friend what he wants to do with the car, show, auto X, etc........
alot of peeps dont seem to answer because they would eventually tell you its been covered, or use the search function, I highly reccomend it too....just helping you out see ya

Thank you very much. That is alot more info than I honestly thought I would get
Basically he wants to be able to beat up on alot of the cars around. He is looking for approx 200-230hp at the flywheel. In that light of a car that should be sufficient. He is still going to need the car to be a daily driver and gas can get expensive when you have to run premium or better day in and day out.
I did search and everytime it returned nothing found..... go figure.
Shouldn't I get both the parts from rywire? Or is that not nessecary? I mean $190 and $365 are a far cry apart but if it will do it right I don't care.
This P28 ecu you mention is for a B16 w/vtec correct? I hit up ebizzle and found a few if that is the case.

you are right, get the 190 package, P28 Ecu, (later on he can tune the ECU real nicely) and if his goal to reach at least 200HP some internals might be neccesarry aside from the bolt on, and just keep on tuning it the more you tune it the more results you get.....good luck
