Proper Coilover Adjustment? How to/ tips/ techniques?
<-- 00 ITR with Omni coilover suspension setup. I was looking to raise the car some. I read the Koni shock install, and was wondering what steps should I take to raising the car up. I also do not have the omni coilover adjustment wrenches, do I even need them ?? What else do you guys think I should know about hopefully getting the car semi balanced without paying to get the car corner balanced ?? I.e. what is an ideal ride height for daily driving and handling ?? How would I go about dialing this in on the coilover ?? Pictures are requested as well.
I can only answer some of those questions.
I have Koni/GC, so I don't know how to adjust Omnis.
For balancing, either get a proper corner balance, or just set the perches the same left to right. You don't want to measure the fender gap or the jack point, because the car should not be level, the left - right weight balance is not 50/50. Mine ended up being 52/48 left/right, 62/38 front/rear, with the driver in it after corner balancing. It ended up costing me $350 including an alignment.
The "ideal ride height" doesn't exist for a street car, set it as low as you can handle (within reason). Maybe you need to get into and out of driveways, maybe there's speed bumps in the parking lots you frequent, etc... I have mine with the tires flush with the wells, and I've put the nose into the pavement leaving driveways, even crawling along. Though, I do have a slight rake on the car, so that makes the front end even lower in comparison the the rest of the car.
