14 inch wheels fit in the rear of 4th,5th gen preludes?
I looks like they would clear the OEM brakes, but I was wondering if anyone actually tried putting a 14 inch diameter wheel in the rear?
You ask why? (1) less weight, less rotational weight, (2) you can run a taller tire to get a larger slip angle in the rear, this would be a good thing on our cars.

1. You could never rotate your tires.
2. If you did, your speed will be fucked up.
3. Honestly, how much weight do you really think that would save?
4. Why would you want taller tires?! More rigid (low profile) = less flex of the sidewall in corner situations.

yes, you can fit 14" rims on 4th gens for sure cause I used to have 14" on the rears. the front is a different story. offset was off and the front brake caliper would rub the inside of the 14" rim. I'm pretty sure you can grind a lil bit off the caliper to make it fit just like civic's doin a gsr caliper upgrade with 13" rims.
if you get the correct offset 14" rim, it should work.

i believe the steelies on the s are 14s.....so it fits the 4th gen, i dont see why it wouldnt fit the 5th
if you wanted them in the front, you could just get like a 3mm wheel spacer.....i had to do that to get my itr rims to clear the caliper....

You can run 14 inch wheels on the 4th gen. The stock S wheels are indeed 14 inch steels.
Size of the tire to avoid messing up your abs and speed sensors: 185/70R14
This will have horrible handling because that is a very narrow and very tall tire. Have fun driving a Tercel.

I think the problem with most aftermarket rims is not enough offset, rather than too much. I would think most wheels would therefore be too far to the outside rather than too close to the brake. Wheel spacers effectively decrease the offset.
If you ran unequal size tires, I think it would be important to at least get the same model front/rear. You wouldn't want some crappy tire in back giving you unexpected oversteer.

I could give a rats *** if my speedo is off, or my ABS does not work. I never look at my speedo, and the ABS is out of the car
I just want to run the smallest diameter, widest width wheel I can fit and still be legal on the race track. However I think I'm just going to stick with 15's so I know I will never have clearance issues.

You will have no problems with clearance issues with stock 14" wheels. However, if your car is the 5th gen in your avatar, you have 5 lugs where the 4th gen has 4 lugs, so it's a moot point. Either way, just get aftermarket racing wheels, because the S steelies are 5" wide, as opposed to the alloy 6.5" wide.
