Default Knock Sensor???? So CONFUSED

Imma Noob O well
Yea I'm throwing a knock sensors code and I poped my hood and noticed I didn't have one. I just got the swap so the person before me probably took it. I heard the knock sensor retards the distributor and makes the motor have low torgue and HP. When I do get my sensor I was wondering how to install and what I need to do. Do you just screw it in and put one of the plugs in? There's two plugs which one?

that's all it is.. if you're missing it.. get one.. screw it in.. and put the plug in.. reset the ecu(battery or fuse for 10-15 min) and you should be ready to go..

yes it retards timing for a safety issue.

you should get one right away.. i wouldnt drive around with it not in.

Well I'll just try the longer connecter and I heard if I connect the wrond one then the light will come on and that means it's the other connector. Does anyone know why there's two connectors and whats the other one for I heard one is for power steering pressure sensor.

if you'd listen to me a knock sensor only has one pin in the connector... meaning the connector on the harness is only one wire. what you have circled there looks like temp and O2

This guy is 100% right. It’s basically just a Microphone. OEM ones aren’t really that great, and if you have any aftermarket internals forget about using your stock knock. Aftermarket internals generally make more noise, so your knock thinks your detonating and will retard = slow car.

I say if your motor is stock, and stock ecu forget about the knock. Or just chip your ecu and turn the knock sensor off.

well what wire harness are you using? if you dont have a single wire that fits over a small nipple then you dont have it on your harness and you will have to run the wire. if you need to run it, its easy, a straight SHIELDED wire from your ecu to the noc sensor. easy stuff.

i found the plug on your harness.

if you look in the very bottom right, thats your oil sensor, right above that is the single wire with the connector. thats it

But your car has to have the wire ran aswell.
