Default The low fuel light in ef's is real helpful..

Yeah right!!
Mine came on 2 seconds after the engine started boggin down.
I shut it off before it completely died.
I figured I had enough gas to make it to the next exit since the low fuel light hadnt came on.
I had wondered why I never saw the low fuel light before.
Now I know why!
Left me on the side of the I-71 freeway at 4am in the freezing cold just when it was starting to snow.

I put gas in the car before I left cinci!
I was planning on pulling over at the next exit where there is a Chevron..
I thought I had enough time since the fuel light didnt even come on..

I didn't think it had one ..... I was used to the little gas dealy coming on in the R to let me know I had about 50 miles left.

Guess I'm glad I've never seen one in my Civic .....

Hatchbacks have fuel lights? I've had one since 1994 and never noticed a low fuel light, and I've run that thing pretty low. Maybe it's burnt out like my check engine light?!?

Its in a spot where you cant tell until it lights up.
its not like the seatbelt light where you can see it when its not lit up..
i dunno it was only on for a second and i had bigger concerns at the time.

a sure fire way other than the light to find out your running low on gas is if on turns your car starts sputtering and trying to turn off, sadly this has been my warning a couple times.

I covered detroit to cincy in under 3 hours and only used just over a 1/2 tank.

Twice the distance!

I had two passengers and it was pretty cold and real windy..
Plus the rpms were really high at that speed..
Most of the time was at or near full throttle..
I was getting 20MPG[120miles devided by 6gallons]

Maybe your cel went on right when you ran out of gas, maybe it threw like a fuel pump code real quick since it wan't getting any gas.
