Turbo or Jackson supercharger?
i have a price range about to $1500 with a b18 LS. Im debating whether a supercharger or a turbo would prolly be best... i did some researching but couldnt find solid answers any help plz?

...will explode.
Here's the difference between a supercharger and a turbo.
Superchargers run off rotations of the crank, therefore they may not make all the power of a turbo, but they'll be making large linear powergains (20-50 hp throughout the powerband).
Whereas turbos run off exhaust gases, which means the turbo needs to spool up to full boost to make its large amounts of power.
Turbos make more power but need time to spool up, while superchargers are making power all the time.
Check out jacksonracing.com for some dyno sheets, and compare it to some turbo cars, and see what you want.
You can always get the race only pulley from JR that bumps it up from 6 lbs to 9 lbs....

Someone that's never worked with turbos before will most likely make something that will be faulty as hell.
Some guy on a local board made a 'homemade turbo kit' that had duct tape on the vacuum lines, larger injectors with NO fmu (forget about piggyback or standalone), the intake pretty much mounted ON the turbo (woohoo heat)...i mean there's more but thats all I remember from the pictures...
People that want turbos but don't know what the hell they're doing are going to mess something up simply because they are ignorant to the technology.

Arn't both boost... LOL
Just playing... I'd go Turbo over SC.
But will SC a car one day.

save up more money. $1500 aint gonna get it done. good fuel management and proper tuning is going to set you back a $1000. that only leaves $500 left for what ever your doing. besides, a jrsc (used or new) will be between $1200-$2400.
but to answer your question, I love JRSC. They pull like HELL right out of the hole. You'll make turbo cars play catch up all day long. and unless there running insane amounts of boost, they aint catching you.
buy a JRSC, hondata s300, and a 8-9lb pulley. then get it tuned and have fun.

Yea, if I ever go FI on my K, i'd go with a SC rather than turbo. But a hatch with that much power, I doubt I'd be able to handle it, so i'll probably just build the motor.
An SC will definitely give a B series some kick, and he's right... you'll get a the jump on turbo cars cause it takes them a few thousand RPMs to get to full boost while you're making some consistent power.

glad you clarified that
I completely agree. If you don't know what you're doing... BOOM. BUT on the other side, homemade turbo setups can save you ALOT of money and give you awesome power if you do know what you're doing. Hell, I just pieced to gether my turbo kit from random cheap ****: hf mani, smic, random piping, etc. but i didn't skimp out on oil lines or fuel management. I spent about $550 total on the whole kit and im expecting it to be reliable and fun.

Take the money that you spend on a Turbo/Supercharger and build up your motor and run NA. A lot more respect plus you (in the quarter) can go just as fast without being a fully built race car.
so what are some reliable websites where i can price everything.... i've done a good bit of research and obviously know that the upside of a SC is the small amount of maintenence compaired to a turbo.... so what kind of maintence is needed with a turbo.
TURBO ive been supercharged and now im turbo went from a high 14 sec d series 2 a low 12 sec d series same motor big diffrence
turbo
turbo
turbo
hands down
a jrsc car may pull u outta the whole but he wont hold u out 4 long
b4(when jrsc) i could beat b series swaps w/ lil mods
now i can beat evos sti's cobras vettes
need i say more

If you have searched, you prob. know the pros and cons about each setup. And, after all, its your own perference and what you really look for.
If you are going to run straight lines, go for turbo! ( cars that design to run straight only??? Make no sense to me!)
If you are running on streets,
1) you are running too much hp and getting hard to handle.
2) cops are gonna give you fix tickets.
For NA tune, you would get some decent good hp w/o too much attention when you asked to pop the hood. Or, go for SC. At least, you have the CARB sticker.
Remeber, a car is design to run not only straight lines. You have to consider the handling and the balance of both. After all, its your choice. Good luck

Expect your engine to die sooner, lots of extra stress on internals.
Change the oil frequently.
Upgrade and replace clutches
Rebuild turbo every 40k or so.
