Default What's the verdict ? Balance shaft belt removal and engine reliability?

Ok many of us have done it. From the various threads posted, It is conclusive that it is responsible for noticeable power gains. However, can anyone say for sure that they have had any damage to their engine after running this mod for a very long period of time.

If so, please let us know what.

No damage related to balancer belt removal? No cracked blocks, no spun bearings, no crank walk, no loose bolts (from vibration).???? Then its all good??

If so, it may be the cheapest, most effective mod available for the H series

i'm collecting parts for installing my timing belt an manual tensioner so i'm thinkin that i'm probaly just going to cut the belt to the balance shafts ...i'd hate to see a tired motor in 50,000 miles after doing this mod ...but i,m goin all out on my 99 and if it brakes, it's just an excuse to the wife as to why i need to rebuild it . i'd love to here some feedback on high milage h22s and how they survive .

Figured I'd let you know that bumping a thread after only 6 hours, esp. when it's the early morning hours, is frowned upon here.

That being said, I've been running no balancer shaft belt for a while and have had zero problems.

I've only been running mine without the belt for about 3 months now, but haven't noticed any ill effects. 190,000 miles on my '92 Si with H23vtec conversion. Probably about 7,000 miles on it so far. Didn't pull the motor when I changed the head, so I'm just running without the belt, balance shafts still in the block.

We have been racing 2 years with no belt on the balance shafts, however we did leave them in the block. There are some block off plates available if the shafts are removed. We have had not problems, but now a high milage application in our case.

Never had a problem on any of my F & H series motors. Ditto for my DSM's.

no problems, but it does feel scary above 6k at full throttle. i feel a lot more vibrating, but not when daily driving. i just did mine a few months ago, and haven't had an auto-x session to test it out yet...

Im putting in the Kaizenspeed BS kit as we're speaking, that way you can eliminate the balance shaft save some pounds.

I am putting a JDM H22 in my 94 civic hatch and I have a stiff mount kit, I was wondering how much vibrating there will be without the balance shaft belt?
