RCA connectors?
I just read the thread in GDD about hooking up an mp3 player through the RCA cables with a RCA-headphone converter. My question is, where are the actual RCA plugs in a 1998 Prelude SH?
Thanks.
Thanks.
There are no RCA outputs on a Prelude stock radio. You'll just have to go the Best Buy or some stereo shop and get a convertor that have RCA outputs that you hook up to your stock radio. They're very easy to hook up, and take about 20min. to install. The way I had mine hooked up awhile back was that I tapped into the rear speakers, and then grounded it to the body. They're only $10-$20 depending on where you go
Can you link me to that converter that you were talking about?
Also, connect it to the rear speaker? Why would anything be connected to a rear speaker?
Thanks again.

I don't mean connect it directly to the speakers, I meant splice into the wires that connect to the rear speakers so that you get the sound for the RCA's...Here's a link that I just found to show what I'm talking about

I think he may mean RCA inputs to connect it to the radio kinda like a CD changer. I think 99-01 prelude radios have a cd changer input and they make an adapter that converts them to RCA inputs for an MP3 player or XM radio, etc. If you check out http://www.installer.com they have ipod interfaces for factory radios which should work with other MP3 players too.
edit: Also check http://www.mp3yourcar.com They make an adapter for Ipods that lets you control it with the cd changer controls.

those are good links. If you have an Ipod the mp3yourcar link will work, if not then you need to find an adaptor like the other.
I was looking about 6 mo ago and found one for $30(one imput) and one for $60(2inputs), but you can't control the mp3 player. I'm not really sure about your HU, but mine is a 95 designed for a single disk player. So the 190 dollar Ipod adaptor is a big *** waste for me. I ended up just using the ol' tape adaptor

That mp3yourcar link is real nice, thanks for it.
Too bad it's so expensive. Ahh well, the holidays are coming up. For now, I'll just keep using my enormous book of music CD's.
Thanks everyone who helped!
