What is a "semi slick"? If you mean an R compound, then you probably would not be happy using one on the street, as they'll go from full tread to bald in under 5k miles.

I'm running a set of 205/50-15 RT-615s on the street right now. I bought them for auto-x, and currently only have 1 set of wheels, but they'll be reserved just for track and auto-x use as soon as I can afford another set of wheels and tires. From the looks of things, I'll be lucky to get 10k miles out of them, 8k more likely. The road noise is substancial, and the stiff sidewalls seriously effects ride quality. That aside, they've been very good tires for me so far, and didn't "grease up" on my last track day, even in 100+ degree weather.

You have a mix of different kinds of tires in your list:

a) Supersticky street tires, almost like track tires, will wear very fast (not as fast as R compound tires though): Falken RT-615, Hankook R-S2 Z212

b) Very good top-of-the-line street tires, will do well in dry and wet conditions (not as sticky as previous category), reasonable treadlife: Toyo T-1R

c) So-so street tires, not particularly sticky: Dunlop SP8000, Nitto 555

The choice depends on what you're looking for. All you mentioned is sticky - if you want sticky, get the Falken or Hankook. None of these are "semi slick".

On a hatch, you're better off with 205/40-16 or 205/45-16 though...

i think i'll go for the hankook ventus RS2 Z212 tires since they are much cheaper than the RT615 which nothing but new and expensive....i found that the 215/45/16 honkook tires come for the 7.0-8.0 wide rims and this rims i am going to buy is 16x7 so i guess am on the right specs! why did u say am better off with 205/40/16 or 205/45/16? while my rims can take a bit wider more rubber?

Your rims can, but your car may not be able to. You run a high risk of rubbing when you choose a tire that is wider AND has a larger outer diameter.

Most Civic hatchbacks come with 175/70-13 or 185/60-14 tires stock. Look at how the outer diameter of these tires compares:

175/70-13 (stock)
205/40-16 -0.8 percent
205/45-16 +2.7 percent
215/45-16 +4.3 percent

As you can see, the ones with 45 aspect ratio are considerably larger than stock in diameter. Getting 215 tires that are both 40 mm wider and an inch more in diameter means a strong risk of rubbing on the fender wells and suspension components. It will also mean that your speedometer and odometer will be off by the indicated percentage. Furthermore, your car will accelerate slower; when you use larger diameter tires, it's like putting taller gears in your car. So those are three different reasons not to go with the 215 tires. (If it were my car, I would get the 205/40, not the 205/45.)

if i want to fit 215 then where should be my tire height then? since u said 205 requires profile 40.....look at this link please: http://www.7thgencivic.com/index.php?page=tirecalc

it says using 205/40/16 the speedometer will be 0.7 % faster

and when i tried 215/40/16 the speedometer will be 0.7% slower

thats not much so dont u think am better off using 215 for traction since am going turbo? i talked to many poeple reagrding rubbing and they said i wont rub if i go with 45mm offset rims!!!!

There are two reasons for using 205/40-16 over 215/40-16: (1) More tires are available in 205/40, and (2) 205/40 is less likely to rub.

If you want more traction because you are going turbo, then you should be worrying about buying a stickier make/model of tire, which is a lot more important than the tire size.

No. I think your best bet is the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/40-16, which is available now.
