I HAVE A MOMO STYLE AFTER MARKET STEERING WHEEL. damn wish i had some pictures but dont. ANYWAY, IM NOT SURE IF I COULD PASS THE EMMISIONS WITH IT. I BASICALLY HAVE NO AIRBAGS, THANKS TO AN ACCIDENT. I LIVE IN CONNECTICUT WOULD ANY OF YOU BE CIRTAIN OF ANYTHING?

I had some insight to your problem, but after reading the entire post in (almost) all caps, my head began to hurt, and i forgot what I was going to say.

 

my bad, about the caps, but anyway is that steering wheel legal or not. also keep in mind the pasanger airbag went out.

 

that is not legal where I live, and probably not legal in CT either (although I'm not 100% sure), but it does vary by state law, and who is inspecting your car that day. Most areas have an inspection center that is known for being more laid back about mods. If I were you, I would try to find one of those places.

it is illegal in the us to remove airbags from a car that came with them, period.

 

I didnt remove the airbags. The accident did. It was 1. pay Honda 1000 for new airbags 2. Duck Tape 3. AfterMarket Steering Wheel

Is your steering wheel removable? If not, I would've gotton one.. It's a great way to prevent theft.

I think he meant.. He can write a ticket for each window that is under the legal limit for tint.

 

yeah it was a ticket, and some snotty older-bad-cop BS. But anyway about the steering wheel being removable, yeah, it is, it takes about half a second to remove it with a quick-release HUB.

 

Cool, I would get a lock on the Hub, as common as the QR's are these days, It would take nothing to get in someones car with the same wheel and release and drive off. Not say that everyone has the capability of doing that, but you never know, theives will go to some extremes to get what they want. Layer your security and sleep well at night, that's what I did and I couldnt be happier.

BTW I got pulled over with my temp stock steering wheel without an airbag here in Cali and the officer could have given a **** less about it.

 

in most states it isnt required to replace the airbag if it has gone off, so i say go for it...

I wish a lived in cali, one step closer to JDM, Tunner world, the only place where a performance store is about as common as a walmart.....to only dream.


I never seen the lock though, i will ebay right now. im just gonna try to find a tuner-friendly shop for emmisions.

 

cali is probably the worst about laws and imports...

 

if airbags is deployed is is illegal to drive until its replaced. so you have to have them on NO Excuses

 

well if it comes down to it, i can always register her in PA, no emmisions and insurance is lower than lowriders.

Yeah, the only locks out are the Rapfix locks which I think are sold on Password JDM's site or the NRG's that just came out. The NRG's are really nice and really simple to put on and take off. I know someone who sells them. PM' me if you want the info...

its still illegal, your suppose to go with option 1 in order to be legal but expletive that!!
