Tranny Oil Fins??

Tranny Oil Fins??
Ill try to get a pic up but anyone that has taken apart a transmission should know what I'm talking about.
My diff exploded in my B16a Hydro-tranny taking out the fins underneath where the diff sits. The pieces were all over. Are these important? They look like they just direct oil. I plan on replacing with a Quaife and I'm just making sure that the case is still ok to use.
