Default Gas

Does anyone know how high of octane i can put in my civic i want to try this gas at a holiday gas station by my house that is 110 octane but i dont know what would happen if i did

Nothing would happen. You would be paying more money for gas that probably won't help your stock civic.

octane does not give you horsepower, it allows you to make more by resisting detonation. it will actually take horsepower because it is slower to burn.

You want to use the lowest octane you can without the motor running like crap or knocking basicly.

Funny you should mention that because when I was in tech school we did a dyno test using my accord and different octsne fuels. I made more power with higher octane, it wasn't much but still more. It is not really a slower burn either, it just combusts at a higher temperature.

I was also able to achieve better gas mileage with 93 octane when compared to 87.

Exactly. Get 87 octane. You have a Civic, not a Ferrari.

I can only imagine doing this if you had a boosted motor that was built and you were taking it to the track.

you would have to be runnin high compression as well. I have a 2000 si and th ec/r is 10.2:1 and i found 91-92 is best for me

or do they make it unleaded too</TD></TR></TABLE>Yeah 110 would be a leaded fuel. So if you like passing emissions I would get a test pipe first and put your cat in the corner of the garage for emissions time since leaded fuel will eat up the catalyst.

Nothing less than 93 touches my gas tank, besides whats another $3-$4 a fill up?

I was just being a dick Anyhow, leaded fuel won't just affect your cat...it'll **** other **** up (like O2 sensors), too!
