Default Suomy Spec 1R

Does anyone have this lid? I really like the graphics, they are cool enough to make me want one. I have been wanting a third helmet and I already have two Arais.

My question is, how do the sizes run? I wear M or L in Arai, but even a L in Shoei is a little cramped.

There seem to be a lot of these circulating on eBay in any paint scheme one wants, and they have this "best offer" thing which could net you a $600 helmet for $200 if the vendor feels like accepting your bid. I guess I should probably order a L, but I just wanted to see if anyone had something to add about the sizing or fit?

I think the sizes are a little small. My only comment is that it is a loud helmet. But that comes with the territory on a race helmet I guess.

i love their designs.. especially the gambler - but 650 for a 2nd helmet is too much for me

I have the Extreme. I have it in a large. It fits me a little tighter than an Arai Large. The padding breaks in very well and is very comfortable. I am really impressed and will definatly buy another one.

Good helmets. I was supposed to pick up my Suomy Spec1-R Steve Martin last week.

See if you can try one on first Ross, since a lot of the helmets have varying shell shapes. I know an Arai RX7-RR did not feel comfortable, but my Arai Astral feels perfect.

If they are a Parts Unlimited dealer, and chances are really good that they are since PU is the largest distributer for bike parts, then they carry Suomy. They may not stock it in the shop, but they can get it for you in 1 or 2 days. They should also be able to send it back for nothing if you dont like it. So talk to them if you really want one.

I've had my extreme gambler now for about 4 months. I love it. Here's a link to a small write-up I did about it. Too bad I didn't make the title more search friendly.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1297942

The only thing is it was really quiet for me and everyone else seems to have different experiences with that. I guess you have to be the judge. The thing is I came from a loose fitting HJC, so it could just be that a good fit alone made it a lot quieter.

I got the Medium and it was very tight in the beginning and could be a little uncomfortable on long rides but its starting to mold to my dome perfectly now.

A lot of wind noise depends on how the padding fits against your lower jaw. My X11 fits me perfectly everywhere but the padding isn't super tight against my lower jaw so it's very noisy. Doesn't bother me because I wear ear plugs 100% of the time anyway.

I found this in the "Show me your Lid" thread, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1369549&page=4
2 people had the Suomy Spec and have had problems with it cracking.

Yeah the handling instructions say that the vent is very fragile. Mine hasn't cracked though. Sounds like your guys were damaged in shipping from some fool from UPS like that scene from Ace Ventura.

I have the extreme as well. For me after a half hour ride my ears are ringing. It is fairly quiet below 45 mph but above that and it starts getting loud. The EPS is cracked in one place by the vent on mine...I carry it by the back whenever I can.
