Save up and by a dc sports one, look around, they are pretty cheap. You can find one for under $200
I just fixed a cracked ebay header tonight, it broke right off the flange. Had to reweld it .

you just have to know what you look for on egay. i have bought 2 headers off ebay 1 for my ls and 1 for my single cam . have had both for over 3 years and there holding up pretty well. plus the one i have on my ls clears the crossmember perfect and has a 2.5 collector. i payed less than $80 each.
http://www.d-series.org/forums...28481 just alittle dyno test of a ebay header vs a stock z6.

yea i mean i'd get them if you were short on money and u needed a quick replacement, but surprisingly i've heard not too bad stories of the 'ebay' header, i would've done it if my motor didn't come with the header-downpip already attached to it..
I got my 4-2-1 header off the Bay and still haven't had any trouble with it. The only thing I can say is that it will free up the exhaust on a factory motor considerablly, enough to possibly get a rough idle with all the accesories on, but after a few upgrades it seems to work well with my set up.
Here's a physical comparison of the
DC and Megan headers for D-series:

i got my header from ebay!! piad 65 bucks....i went from a 15.9 to a 15.7 2 tenths of a second right there, i could have done better i only ran three times at LACR at this was in the summer too, ima go out soon when it gets colder to see how it does... i think 65 is damn good, i feel the improvment, and they havent cracked or anything, no problems what so ever, my friend has the same setup as me but he has a DC header and i pull on him mid and top end real nice...he runs 16.1 im doin 15.7 and 15.8 consistent, and we both drive good, he evern drove mine and got a 15.8...so i dont know how u guys can say much about it if u dont have one
To Sum it up you get what you pay for. Stock Cast Iron manifold will last a long time compared to painted and ceramic coated mild steel, or stainless steel. Stock Manifold can take a beating. I have had my megan racing 4-1 header, i got it off ebay $190 shipped to my door, for 6 months and it is dented, scratched and is jb welded on the bottom where it split open. My stock header is just scraped up, but is still functional. Just have to weigh out the pros and cons
Stock
Pros
* Lasts Longer
* Durable
* Oem Quality
* Original Fit and Finish
Cons
* Heavy
* Ugly
* Restrictive
Ebay Header
Pros
* Cheap
* Possible slight improvement over stock
* Less Weight
* Bling Factor
Cons
* Less Durable
* Bad Quality
* Short Life Span
* Not so great build quality merges, welds etc

yes, that sounds like a good idea...pick up a pair of headers and tell us how the install went.

performance wise, ANYTHING is better than stock. the only problem with ebay headers is questionable quality, because then a leaky header is no good.
you can also try to find Z6 or Y8 stock exhaust manifolds. theyre 4-2-1. you can get them for under $80 used and they probably wont cause any CARB issues because they are stock and thus stock looking.
(i happen to have a Z6 full exhaust manifold for sale, located in socal)

Look for a used dc header, there not a lot of money.

If he has two cars then he had better get 4 headers!!! hehehe
I normally dont comment when people refer to a header as headers. But when he says "I'm gonna buy a pair", then that's just asking to be made fun of.

i had bought a ss autocrome from ebay a while back and it was a big improment from stock and i had not problems with the install. i cleaned up the insides of the flanges and smoothed them out a bit. it was a good header and no real problems just use a new gasket like when you change anything, always have good maintance practice it saves you in the long run trust me.
