Default hu question

is there anyway to hook up 2 head units at the same time? or is there such thing as a harness extension that runs from a factory harness to an aftermarket hu or would i have to just splice extensions myself? thanks.

You can, but you need a switching system to isolate the units from each other... Not worth the trouble, IMHO....

Yes you can get an adpt. harness, [that you would have to connect "splice" to the after market HUs harness] that will plug into the "factory" radio plug.
As for connecting 2 HUs, as B18C_EJ8 said you will need a switcher, or one HU would have to have an AUX input, and the other would have to have a preamp output, or you could add a LOC, [line output converter] to the speaker outputs of the second, [ slave] unit.
What is it you want to do? 94

fcm: just the person i wanted to respond, im trying to buy this hu off of one of my friends for $25 and i dont want to install it in the factory location, i was thinking the center console or maybe under the seat or something would be cool. where ever it fits that isn't in the glove box. i hope it has a remote, i haven't really checked it out yet but i don't think it does. is there anyway that i could make it have a remote or should i just resell it and get something else with the money. thanks for the input.

Remote? if you mean AUX input, then if it does not have an AUX input, but it is a CD changer controller HU, you may be able to get a AUX in adpt. for the changer port, and I am assuming you want to use the stock HU as the other one, if so, you will also need a LOC, you can be looking at up to $100 here, you can build your own "switcher" for about $20-$60 all you need is 2 x 4PDT relays and 1 x SPDT relay, and if you want to keep it neat and easy the adpt. harness that fits your car and the rev. harness that fits the stock HU, and know how to solder, and a little time and patience 94

i meant a remote that controls the head unit itself. sorry for the confusion, also i already have a loc. so basically i make the stock harness into a Y connector running one to the stock hu and one to the aftermarket? or do i have to have a switch that will switch power from one to the other? i would assume i don't need this piece because i can just turn one or the other off right?
