Not a fan of the highway.......
The speed dosent bother me, the turbulance does. The bike just feels unstable. Im on a ninja 250, is this something that will go away when I get a bigger bike? Also, highways are crowned, should I ride on the crown (middle) or in one of the ruts? Thanks
how fast are you going on the freeway? i know if your on a 250 then most likely you'll be pushing the bike in high rpms. for me it's something i got use to over time, it felt weird at first when the wind use to push me around but now i just sort of counter it with my body.
It goes away somewhat with a bigger bike and you also learn to lean into the wind over time.
I'd rather hit some back roads on my 250 instead of crusing the highway on my R6 anyway.
Say in the ruts as the crown will constantly want to send you into the ruts anyway. The crown is also covered in oil and all of the other **** that drips off of cars.

yeah on a 250. I wouldnt feel safe with those thin of a wheel underneath me...
you do get used to the win hitting you and blowing you around...
I hate going on freeways doing 70+ and the wind hits you straight on...

I hate riding the highway, only time I take it is when absolutely necessary, which is almost never since I ride solely for pleasure, and not as a mode of primary transportation. Stick to the back roads.

Thanks, im only doing 65-70, its not the speed, i do those speeds on the back roads. The highways just are not in as good of condition. The skinny tires were on my mind as well. Im just kinda glad I can kinda balme the bike and not my innability. Other than a few miles here and there, I think Ill just stay off the hwy until I get my 600.

I have a 350. Yeah, I didn't like riding on the open highway wither at first, but it gets better as you learn to react to it. Like RebornGSR said, stay in the ruts when you can. The worst problem I had was passing a semi, as you come by the front end and the wind sheer really makes the bike feel loose till you're out past the nose of it. I assume it was just b/c the 350 is so light. Also, make sure to brake with both front & rear. Mine was so light that anything more than slight pressure on the rear would cause it to lock up = not fun.
Especially in the rain I would avoid riding in the center. It is typically where all the oil and gravel concentrates. I prefer to ride in the tire tracks, I have also found cars are more likely to see you. IMO
Back when I had a 500R it felt planted, even at high speeds like 100-110 on the highway. (in response to Newkleus) Perhaps you had a wheel out of balance or a bad tread/road surface interaction going on? But there are so many variables that it might do that one day and not the next.
the 250's are more effected by the wind though.
