Default Exhaust hitting gas tank

Well i got a apexi world sport from an 2000 si for dirt cheap to put on my ej1. it fits but i had to fight it a little. I need to readjust the hangers and get a new cat with a flange that spins freely to align it right but for now the exhaust is hitting the gas tank. not the piping but the etended part where u bolt it. i put like ten pieces of napkin in between. How safe am I from becomming toast?

exhaust + Napkin + Gas tank = 4th of July

Go to an exhaust shop to get it fixed bro... they can extend the hangers so ur exhaust hangs a lil lower off the gas tank....

IS it a Paper Napkin? It gonna catch fire... ur crazy LOL....

I don't think it will get hot enough to actually ignite the napkins.

No, you should use exhaust wrap or muffler tape. Flamable items near extreme heat and gasoline containers is just a disaster waiting to happen. Get it to an exhaust shop and have it fixed correctly.

Remember: you can do it right or you can do it twice.

wasup man...when i first got my exhaust it was hitting the gas tank and if there was enough weight it on the back it would also hit the sway bar end link too...i wrapped header wrap around it for a while and then it started to break apart and hang down...so i just took it off and dealt with it for a while...i had taken it to a meineke and they heated up certain parts of the piping to move it away from the gas tank...it never hits the sway bar end link anymore...i dont know why...but apexi just has straight up shitty fitment problems with they're exhausts...but ever since i took it to meineke it hasnt rubbed on anything at all...the problem i am having now is the muffler is just rattling like crazy at low rpms...unfortunately im going to have to change the muffler even though i like the ws because of its quietness...hope i helped

In no way is apex shitty, there flanges on the exhausts are just thicker then everyother exhaust which equals more strength. the thicker flange hit the tank, i have the apex n1 on my 95 coupe and it hit my tank so i took a chizzle and hammer to my tank and dented it in a little and ground down the flange a little and that fixed it.
