Default Swapping Engines

I am gonna swap my engine soon in my 88 Civic Dx and am thinkiing about doing it myself... I want to go B16A but might even go SOHC VTEC, My question is how hard are each of these swaps to do? I would preferably want to go B16A. I am pretty good with cars and think I could do it myself. Any comments, how hard is the swap and how long would it take me???

Default Re: Swapping Engines (Honda)

Either swap will be a wiring chore for you because you have the DX which uses dual point injection instead of PGM-FI like all other 88+ Honda/Acuras. The VTEC D16 will bolt in using all your mounts and is very simple, especially if you use an Si or ZC ECM and activate VTEC with an RPM activated swtich. The B16 is a little more of a chore because you have to either cut and weld mounts or use a mount kit. You also will need to do more wiring in order to use the PR3/PW0 VTEC ECM needed for the swap.
