Default 93 temp gauge problems

I have a 93 honda civic D16z6 and its completely stock. The problem Im having is my temp gauge is going from where it normally sits to hot but the motor isn't actually getting any hotter. I have checked the fan and it is kicking on when its needed and I flushed out the radiator about a month ago so at this point I need some help.

Thanks.

make sure your thermostat and all your coolant hoses are in good condition. make sure you bleed the coolant properly also.

this seems to be a common problem with 93 civics with that particular problem.

This happened on my ex girlfriends Accord. The temp would read hot, but everything would be cold. It turned out to be her thermostat, try replacing that.

i jsut fixed this on my car.. i thought it was the cluster so i pulled it out an looked on the backside of it.. i noticed the one of the screws on the back of the cluster was almost completely backed outta the threads (one of the screws that hold the temp guage onto the cluster) i tightend it up an put it back in an it works fine now

thats kinda crazy that the screw just backed out of the cluster. But Ill keep that in mind when I get a chance to actually work on the car, thanks for the info.

If you need a new temp gauge I have one, it came out of my 95 Dx.

speak of the devil, my girl 93 dx is acting up again. it over heated on her at a stop light and turned off.

3rd time this car has had cooling problems. first the car was running to cold because it had no thermostat, 2 months later the car starts over heating because the fan was broke and one of the hoses needed to be replaced.

i think i'm just gonna take the car from her and swap the motor/convert the car to stick and get an 96-97 accord for her as our fam. car.
