Default Engine keeps missing???????

I did an 2000 d16y8 engine swap into my 92 cx this summer and my car has not run right since then, the engine was missing all the time. So this weekend I thought I found the problem, one of the injectors was not spraying. So I got an extra injector from one of my buddies and put it in and the car ran great, for a day. My car threw a CEL the next day so I did the jumper test and it was a 16(injector) so I took all my injectors off and checked to see if they all were spraying and they were. Now the cars check engine light stays on but, it runs great when your driving, but when it idles the engine keeps missing. Do you have any ideas? thanks

I'd check the resistance of each injector and check that you are getting 12V at each injector. You did replace the injector with a obd2 or 1 injector right?

is the injector the correct one, There is a diffenec between obd1 and obd2. to get rid of the check light , reset your ecu. The light will only go away if the problem is fixed.

i thought obd2 and 1 only differed in the connector while obd0 were completely different.

Alas, maybe when he took them off and checked them for flow he cleaned them and they are working.. he should definately clear the ecu and see if the code 16 returns.

sounds like those injectors are gone or at least some of them... just because they spray under high pressure doesn't mean they would spray under lower pressure such as at idle... have them professionally cleaned and tested

also, make sure that the electrodes on the distro cap are not worn out, the spark plugs are gapped right and that the spark plug wires are in good condition

Let me ask u this, u did the jumper test to see the cel code, are u running obd2 or 1??? If ur runnin obd2 you cant use the jumper to get the code, u need a diag tool. I made that same mistake, i have a b16 converted to obd2(runnnin the 99-00 si ecu) n i jumped to pull the code, n i got a injector code, but when i hooked up the diag tool, it showed a bad 02. Obd2 code are 4 digits, obd1 are 3.

Ijectors are not under varying amounts of pressure, they are under constant pressure compliments of the fuel pressure regulator. Flow is controlled by pulsing voltage to the injector. The longer the pulse, the more fuel sprayed. It is just a valve.

pressure varies with load (vacuum)

you can raise or lower the base (idle) pressure with an adjustable FPR but it will still vary based on load

When you dump the vacuum with WOT the regulator closes the bypass to maintain the pressure it had to begin with not to switch between low and high pressure. Granted this may vary by a few pounds because of the mechanical limitations of the systems design, but this is only a 5 to 10 psi difference. Thats hardly low and high pressure.
