Default VSS Help?

I did a search but did not come up with an answer...

Hey guys I had my 93 civic dx analyzed for all possible problems and the only code that came out was 17. Thus the VSS is bad.

I replaced the VSS and it worked for about 5 hours. Then it stopped working. I shut the car off and turned it back on and it worked again. Then while driving it stopped working altogether.

The next day it was dead for about 4 hours and then when I hit 70mph it started working. And continued to work for 3 hours. Now it randomly works and randomly doesnt work... Like on the way to the grocery store it will work and on the way back it wont.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

bad connection at the VSS, clean and be done, cures 99% of the CEL 17's, no need to replace the senosr.

Are you really going 100 or does it just bounce that high? haha

Mine reads the correct speed but its either the correct speed or 0!

Ok I went out and bought CRC QD Electronic Cleaner "Quick Drying Forumla" from Advance Auto Parts...

I unplugged the VSS sprayed both and let it dry and it did absolutely nothing.

Now my speedometer has gone from working sometimes to not working at all. Every other gauge works. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like the plug on the main harness for the VSS has gone bad. if you can either splice in new pins or replace the entire plug that will take care of you. the pins in the plugs corrode very easily.
