Alternator Problem
I'm pretty sure my alternator went out today. Sucks... but what can you do. I could use a removal and installation diagram or instructions with pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 98 Accord 3.0 V-Tec. Thanks for the help.
i can walk u step by step but i got no pics ,,naybe someone else out there has some pictures to make job easier .....
it is not a hard job at all........remove neg side of battery cable, remove the plastic cover above alternator, just turn the 2 plastic screws and pull cover out, remove the plug and the 10mm nut for the white wire at alternator, now u need a 14mm wrench to loosen up the tensioner for the belt so u can slip the belt off, remove the 10mm bolt that holds the p/s reservoir and get it out of the way, remove the 12 mm top alt bolt and 14 mm lower alt bolt ,, take alt out,,,, it is a snug fit but it will come out ,,, these alt are crap i replaced 3 in the past 2 weeks ,,Hope that it helps some ,pics would be much nicer i am sure ,,,,,,,,,

The belt has teeth. Just make sure everything is absolutely parallel once you reassemble everything: eyeball everything with a flashlight and fingers.
The bolt threads will look dirtier where the nut had been previously threaded to. Assuming you don't replace your belt, that spot should be your approximate tension point w/o having to mess w/ checking belt tension

just a personal tip... not needed, but i usually take the cooling fan out when i do V6 alternators.... it's only 3 little 10mm bolts and a couple plugs, and makes it alot easier to slide in and out.

like u said ...not needed to , you can slide it in and out from the side where the p/s reservoir is ...yo Pro working on flat rate i am surprised u take the extra time to remove the fan ...

There are somethings that are worth it. I would sat that removing the fan takes less than a minute, and it makes it alot easier. To me sometimes I will do it the easy way and take a little longer, than faster but a pain in the butt.

i agree that removing the fan wont take very much time at all but i have to disagree that it makes the job easier ,,,the alt slips right out from the side where the p/s reservoir is ,,trust me if it was a pain in the butt i would do it ur way as well,, i like to do things the easy way
,,,,,,, Ehy if u are happy the way u r doing it, as they say, to each his own ,,
