I'm going to swap in an ITR LSD into my LS tranny. i know i need the 4.4 FD and the 4.4 countershaft as well. But the person i am buying these two items from says i need the ITR 1st gear as well. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've looked through all of the ITR LSD into Non-ITR tranny threads, and none mention replaceing the LS 1st gear w/ an ITR 1st. thanks.

 

You don't need it with a 4.400 final drive. If you go with a 4.646, 4.785, 4.926, or 5.077 then you will need the JDM first gear.

 

thanks for the quick response! i guess that makes sense since no other thread has listed the 1st gear as needing to be changed out.

 

Also, make sure to check out all of the bearings, especially if the diff has been out of a car for a while. And now is a perfect time to replace tranny seals.
