Ive been riding bikes on and off throughout my whole life and i finally purchased one of my own a 2000 GSXR 750 and i know its fuel injected but yet it has a choke why is that? isn't a choke used on engines with a carb? Im not the most technically savy person with bikes just something that has been bugging me.

 

It isn't? My '99 is FI.

Isn't the lever on the '00 GSXR just a fast idle?

FWIW, mine doesn't have a choke lever.

ACTUALLY the 2000 750's are fuel injected

 

I believe from 00 or 01 and up - GSXR's are fuel injected.

but mine also has a "choke" or "fast idle" - no one believes me when i say its FI because of that thing - I don't believe that the 04+ have that lever.

anyone know for sure?

my 03 600 has one too, its just a fast idle, i always get people telling me its carbed they never believe me when i tell them thats its FI

 

From what i heard, its their to help the bike idle on very cold mornings even though its a Fuel Injected bike.

 

my 03 F4i has what honda calls an "automatic choke." It's a fuel injected bike, but what they mean on my bike by "automatic choke" is that it automatically adjusts the cold start idle to help warm the bike up and get everything nice and oiled. Your bike has a "choke" that you use when you cold start it, to raise the idle and warm the bike up. Almost every car does this automatically when you cold start it.
